Mike Lee. What a hybrid of malice, misinformation, and sociopathy. Gotta feeling this is his last term in office. Sometimes voters have to hit rock bottom to realize their negligence in researching candidates has dire consequences.

True. Utah is not just a state. It represents a religion. And Mormons are getting tired of his Flat-Earth-Day-Saints shtick.

CNN IS CONFUSED. ARE YOU?

They said the Ep$-teen story is just "political" for the Dems. NO!

It's a story about international money laundering, human trafficking, sexual abuse by rich and powerful men, and kompromat. It's about what Trump did and what Putin knows that he’s holding over him!

Why can't we spread some medical disinformation of our own? For example, a recent study by UCLA found that frequent posting on social media platforms was associated with penile shrinkage. On average, frequent posters lost 2 mm of length and 1 mm of girth per year.

Warden Gulley's avatar

while I find this appealing from a political viewpoint, I am concerned about my future reproductive capability. I attended UCLA. It is somewhat concerning that my alma mater and source of medical training is now examining, at least I presume there was some biological quantification involved, examining . . . ummm. . . the private parts. Was there a control group? How was the quantification established? In which portion of the tumescent cycle was the measurement taken? Was it a blinded study? How would one even conduct a blinded study of such a measurement? This could get tricky.

Expand full comment
Justin Lee's avatar

The blinding process was highly technical, but my understanding is that the researchers were physically separated from the study participants by a wall with a hole in it. This design was based on a famous scene from the 80's movie "Porky's Revenge."

Due to the ubiquity of social media in modern society, researchers had to turn to the Amish community for the control group.

Justin, I think you got the last part backwards. Judging by the Felon, frequent posters ADDED 1 mm of girth per year.

Honestly, do the people of Utah really embrace having a full-blown nut job representing their state? I've known a fair amount of Mormons in my time, and I have a hard time reconciling this.

I just read the Deseret article and my momentary suspicions were confirmed. The White Star Line already had a completely preventable humanitarian disaster on their hands, and the "it sank intact" was an attempt to save face. An intact ship implies a sound ship that failed to stand up to the forces of nature; a ship that broke in two suggests that the thing was a poorly designed piece of junk. They used an old stand by: "women can't be trusted because they're hysterical." Never mind the facts that a bunch of clueless dudes had engineered a completely preventable disaster and that their unsinkable ship didn't even survive contact with an unremarkable iceberg.

My public TV station ran a show about the three ships; the second one was the Titanic. The first collided and broke up and sank. Rather than rethink the integrity of the second, those in charge said it would not happen again and no change is needed.

For an example of corporate hiding from reality read about the molasses flood in Boston in 1919. A huge tank that stored molasses collapsed, killing many people. Among the several causes of the the collapse was that the tank leaked from the get go, so badly that residents put buckets under the leaks to collect the molasses. The corporate solution...paint the tank brown so the leaks weren't so obvious.

Thanks for mentioning this. I read about it in the Boston Globe. Unbelievable that they got away with it until they didn’t.

How does Mike Lee have time to be a member of the Senate?

How did he manage to be elected?

As for hormonal contraception effects on women 's memory, I would accept those effects as a a minor trade off in order to avoid an unwanted or unplanned pregnancy.

"Natural cycling". Yeah, that's more MAHA claptrap.

Joe - how does Mike Lee have time for anything else - he must be very lonely - even if he is physically with other people, it appears he is locked into his little world (size of an iPhone). How can he possibly have time for any social life or work life outside of his Twitter feed?

Why would his staff and/or his family (if he has any, or any left), not put together an intervention? He is acting very much like an addict, and needs to enter rehab.

I know someone probably has to, however, my condolences to you that you have to follow him at all...

Lee ceased to be a serious character a while ago. Like Ted Cruz, he's forsaken governance and become a "content creator". In fact, he's no better than some teenager whose mind was too weak to resist the algorithm and who became a TikTok addict. Utah needs a Senator with a stronger mind.
