Simple solution for the judge to enforce the gag order. The trial gives everyone Wednesdays off so his honor should force Mr. Trump to serve detention on Wednesday. Perhaps an hour for each violation. He’ll have to sit in some room at the courthouse with no phone or devices and remain quiet. He can’t even talk to his secret service detail. And no snacks or diet cokes. It’s a very effective method in grade school. Act juvenile and be treated as such.

I can't think of a way Amazon has made my life better...

I was a software engineer at Amazon for nearly 6 years but quit in February. Dana Mattioli’s description of what it’s like there is spot on.

While you can find some teams or orgs that are ethical, made reality-based decisions, and have good culture, they’re few and far between. I simply could not take the toxicity and cutthroat nature that’s permeating that company. It’s leading to increasingly poor decisions for reasons I could go on forever about.

I quit without having another job lined up because I need time to recover and recalibrate from working there. The only good thing for Amazon that long is the amount the stock price has gone up, which is allowing me cushion to take a considerable break. I’m kicking it with the dog everyday and have never felt more free.

Edit: I got to the part of interview where the woman was crying after getting yelled at. I’m willing to bet that the most I’ve quietly cried in my adult life is in Amazon corporate office bathrooms.

Great podcast! Jeff Bezo and Lauren were at the White House recently for the state dinner. Lauren's dress was scandalous. Hmmmm wonder what it means that they were invited??

I was an early adopter of Amazon when they just sold books. Their database was awesome. You could find anything. Then they added music to the database. I was able to find The Supremes double 'Blue' album. Now, I only use them to find something, and only buy when I need it asap. I probably purchase on average 1 item a month. I stopped Prime bc I wasn't watching it.

Tim and Nuzzi are a great duo on the pod. They never fail to make me laugh.

The info from Dana was very informative; thanks much, Tim. Unlike Walmart - which I've never patronized for a variety of ethical reasons - I do purchase some things from Amazon if I can't find them locally. But I've suspected for years that the company is just as toxic.

While I've become disturbed over the years by the increasingly manic obsession with the almighty dollar at the expense of so much else, I never really thought about capitalism per se until reading Dr. Gabor Mate's most recent book *The Myth of Normal.* He connect a lot of society's ills w/ it. While I don't necessarily agree w/ everything he says, it has made me a lot more aware of when prioritizing money is at the root of a given harm.

I haven’t listened yet (though I certainly will) but I can’t help thinking of Nuzzi’s piece in New York Magazine shortly after Trump announced his candidacy after the 2022 midterms. She described him as having a Norma Desmond quality and we were all giddy that Trump might finally be getting the irrelevance he so richly deserves.

That take hasn’t aged very well has it? I’m reminded of it every time I hear about Trump being “deflated”, “humbled” or “humiliated” by being in the courtroom. I won’t fall for it this time!
