You know, all those guys can say they won't vote for Trump if the allegations are "true", but there's a strong chance that, once in the voting booth, they will.

Thank you General Hertling for your service and reminding us of the most important meaning of most secret and classified documents should never be in the hands of a moron and a clown.

Judge Luttig and Bill Barr have put all lawyers (who might consider taking trump on as a client in the MAL case) and all judges (especially the neophyte minor-leaguer Aileen Cannon and all the other maga judges) that trump is a stone-cold loser on the documents. Cannon might want to recuse simply to avoid (1) presiding over the conviction of her god-king, and/or (2) suffering further severe reputational damage at the hands of the appellate courts.

Good morning, and thanks for your reply.

Again, I find myself in agreement with you, although perhaps a bit more pessimistic regarding MAGA voters. My basis for that pessimism is the behavior of those Trump acolytes who contacted COVID. Even on their death beds, they did not - for the most part - see they had made a grievous error, and died as a result of it. paying the ultimate price for displaced loyalty. It was left to their survivors to acknowledge the mistake, and mourn accordingly (sometimes). I think this pattern will apply to the average MAGA voter as well, especially those in the baby boom generation (I am in the previous, older generation having been born in 1944). Succeeding generations seem to have a better grasp on reality, although one cannot be sure of that.

With respect to the current cadre of MAGA voters, as older people, one would hope that with age, comes maturity. Sadly, that does not seem to be the case. I never thought I would live in an age where a novel written in 1935 "It Can't Happen Here" by Sinclair Lewis could be a very likely scenario for our country. The willingness of 30-40% of our countrymen/women to accept this lying turd as their god-like "leader" is simply appalling and frightening. Nothing can deter them from their belief, and the worse it gets in real life for their dear leader, the more committed they become and close their minds within their artificial reality. They believe that Putin is a leader to be admired and emulated. They believe the Constitution, other than the 2nd Amendment, is a useless document, and they are not to far - IMO - from accepting a "final Solution" (one example would be Revelations) for those who they view as different and threatening. This does not bode well for us.

I fervently hope I am wrong.

Kari Lake and Elise Stefanik look like they might have a throw down (pre-woke: cat fight) to become Trump's (or anyoe's?) V.P pick. It's really sickening. Where's my glass of Liebfraumilch?

Late enough to the conversation that Miami mayor Suarez is going to announce his run for the White House.

First he is an old line Republican. He has forged working relationships with Democrats. He is a people person who sees diversity as a strength. If he can get the Cuban vote in Florida he could deny Desantis a primary victory in his own state.

Many Democrats and independents might even register Republican to help make that happen.

As an independent voter in Florida I generally like him and think he is better, smarter and more honest than the usual suspects currently in the race.

Although it seems we are way ahead of ourselves on pardon talk (yes, I know Presidential hopefuls will have to weigh in on it.) I would be quite angry if he were to receive a full pardon. As Haley suggests, ‘it would be for the good of the country’. I think that was the same nonsense spoke by former President Ford on pardoning Nixon. Several differences - Nixon was President and resigned, then left to go back his San Clemente palace. Trump isn’t President (accept it MAGAittes) and would seriously doubt that he would go away for good.

If he were offered a pardon with restrictions…as in: can never run or hold ANY U.S. Federal, State, or local political office again, and pay a hugely amount of money, enough that he can feel the burn.

After those restrictions, I might be able to keep my anger at bay. Never stopped hating Nixon and won’t with Trump.

I would not be surprised to learn that there are more documents not referenced in the indictment. Documents that are so secret and sensitive that their very existence cannot be acknowledged in writing.

I just saw someone use ‘bleated’ on a different, credible website to describe a Trump post on his craptastic social media site.

Full credit to @Bulwark and @Sykes and team for launching this into the public domain!!

Republicans want to leave Trump, but they need the voters only he can get to the polls. Especially the House members cause they are up every 2 years. The only Rs that are coming out newly about how serious all this is are those not up for reelection in 24. If Trump goes away and it is Desantis, so many of Trump's voters will stay home.

God save us from heads filled with oatmeal instead of brains . . .

“When you look at a pardon, the issue is less about guilt and more about what’s good for the country,” Nikki Haley said. “And I think it would be terrible for the country to have a former president in prison for years because of a documents case.

While many are saying the the indictment of a former president is a dark day in this country s history,I beg to differ. The rule of law is strong and is holding. There will be more indictments of Trump coming.Trump lost a civil case to E Jean Carrol with more civil cases to follow. One thousand insurrectionists have been charged so far.I have yet to hear of anybody found innocent regarding 1/6.To quote Ed harris in "Apollo 13","sir I think this could be our finest hour" DY

Thanks for giving attention to my rep, Elise Stefanik. Her priorities now seem to be money, Trump and somewhere down the list national security.

What I don’t get is that Trump must know about the fundraising scam she’s running where he only gets 1% and she gets 99%. Would he actually be cool with that? I can’t help but think that the scam is at least part of the reason she’s out defending him so full-throatedly.

Also, it’s a scandal she’s still on House Intelligence and Schiff and Swalwell got booted.
