I am appalled by RFK but on thureday during the hearing I was mad at all the cowardly Republicans who care more about their jobs than the people they represent. Senator Cassidy has a special place in my mad. He knew what he was doing, they just gave him a convenient excuse to vote for RFK. What a sell out. Take away his medical license. He clearly does not think about the welfare of the people he represents

"But if you look at what’s going on in the world with health and look at this country also with regard to health, I like the fact that he’s different."

There are no words to describe how fucking brain dead this walking sack of shit is.

Those "tried-and-true dishonest tactics" Trump tried to use to fleece his donors are fascinating, because they sound remarkably like how televangelists would scam their listeners, especially the Prosperity Gospel folks. It's fascinating and horrifying, because either he's just as exploitive as them, or else he really believes what he's selling. I'm not sure which is worse.

Anything about Trump or Gawd is nauseating. Excuse me while I whip this out: To believe is to know you believe, and to know you believe is not to believe - Jean-Paul Sartre.

I am a scientist. I listened to what he said a few times during the meeting. The logical fallacy of his arguments is so blatant that it is easy to be misled. Like when he said that no one can deny that there are some adverse effects to mRNA vaccines, that's why he stopped the $500 million of funding.

Let's unwrap this for a second. Yes, there are a few documented cases of young men (I found a few) who died after getting the mRNA covid vaccine. They died of an inflammation of the heart muscle, a condition known as myocarditis. That's tragic. But what is the cause? The vehicle (nanoparticles + mRNA) or the cargo (coding for the covid Pike protein)? Then you find that the COVID-19 virus can cause myocarditis, so it is probably not the mRNA technology itself, it is a reaction to pieces of COVID. The numbers are so small (a few people) that's it's hard to know if these people had an extraordinary sensitivity to something about this protein. If so, it seems plausible that they would have been super sick if infected by COVID (maybe die of it).

So, it is true that there is a non-zero probability that there is a serious adverse effect if you get the vaccine. Should that stop you? In the real world, every action has an outcome (even doing nothing has an outcome). Every action has a non-zero probability to lead to a serious adverse effect. So, the intellectually honest calculation to do is to COMPARE the different probabilities with the different adverse effects. Just getting worked up about the non-zero probability of a single particular action is meaningless. Either you are stupid and you cannot exert a rational judgment, or you are a demagog trying to manipulate people.

Here is another analogy to illustrate the calculations of probabilities. Imagine that you live in a remote area. There is a wild fire coming your way, blown by strong winds. If you stay there your chance of survival are bad, say 20% We send helicopters to evacuate the population. Would RFK Jr point out that helicopters do not have a 100% safety record? Indeed, it is a fact that in 2019-2023 the average fatal accident rate was 0.73 per 100,000 flight hours. Should that deter you from leaving the dangerous area while the wild fire is coming?

Magicians focus your attention on their left hand while the right hand is putting the rabbit in the hat. It is fun to see things that defy logic. But intellectually dishonest people like RFK Jr do exactly this with ideas and facts, to demagogically manipulate people.

I am a scientist also. Immunology was my field. Kennedy is just another example of a nefarious politician with an inescapable need to condescend. He delights in cultivating the base emotions of humanity: suspicion, doubt and fear - all for the express purpose of controlling the feeble-minded. When pressed by intelligent and thoughtful questioning, he is revealed to be his true self - an ignorant and belligerent fool. The great tragedy of our time is that this applies to Trump's entire cabinet.

"He said he was personally ensuring that U.S. vaccine guidance would be 'clear, evidence-based, and trustworthy for the first time in history'.”

The scam artists peddling the "Intelligent Design" (ID) propaganda also claimed it was "evidence-based." In a way it was, if one deliberately cherry-picks evidence to deliberately misrepresent where it leads. But that's the exact opposite of how science works. 20 years ago, ID, which pretended to be a "scientific" alternative to biological evolution, was thoroughly exposed as a scam. The trial was Kitzmiller v. Dover, and in away more relevant today than the 1925 Scopes trial in exposing the goals and tactics of radical, paranoid anti-science authoritarians.

Lawrence O Donnell said the truth out loud the other night- what those of us know who've been going to meeting's for years -When your a junkie and a wet brain ,you think like what that sounds like. To use a phrase that covers it all " your shot out" and you may not be a user but your never coming back. The damage these people did and do is drastic and they go on till you stop them.

Bill, Andrew and Jim, Passionate work as always. After the fact Cassidy encapsulates the ridiculousness of the Republican Senate. Just plain honest to goodness reporting and documation had Kennedy as a herione addict, steroids abuser and a road kill conosuirre. Yet, 52 Republican Senators chose to ignore not only this but his lies and misrepresentation. Whose kidding who here? The 52 are complicit in everything this worm brain freak destroys and the people he will most certainly kill. They are the real disgrace. They should resign. If not, the American people should fire their asses with their votes.

When are we going to grow a collective spine and stop reporting Trump’s commentary on every situation as if it were news and not evidence of total lack of vision and real control? He is playing you at every possible turn by delivering statements that he didn’t watch it but “heard” about it. In this case it’s extra egregious.

The infuriating thing is, we will all pay for ignorant inept Kennedy's lust for importance. He tried another angle before, criticizing the monetization of health. That didn't work so he saw an opportunity to be importantly crazy and destructive of work achieved by skilled, knowledgeable professionals because Trump also cannot stand skilled professionals. They make him look bad. This is true of the entire clown cabinet but with Kennedy will more directly cost lives. And Congress Republicans are fine with ANY policies that halt liberalism, even if the country is wrecked by the 47th admin.

News flash little Pete, you guys didn’t win ww1 or 2 by yourselves. Canadians were fighting and dying in those wars long before you joined the fray. Heck you likely wouldn’t even have entered the European war if hitler hadn’t been daft enough to declare war on America after the Japanese attack on pearl harbour. For sure you’ve got the biggest guns and biggest sense of self there is, I guess that’s American exceptionalism for you.
