It's both amusing and infuriating to see the ongoing efforts by Trumpers -- including prominent members of the government -- to retcon the most heavily documented mass crime in U.S. history. It's bad faith all the way down -- especially when people who enthusiastically participated in the Capitol attack AND pleaded guilty to it turn around and play victim to some vast conspiracy cooked up by the "deep state" to make Trump and MAGA look bad.
Trump and MAGA make themselves look bad all by themselves. What takes effort and imagination is making them look righteous and benign.
I think the "entrapment" argument is ridiculous. But Tim Miller's take answers the next question, if true (no) this does not absolve the rioters. If you are hanging out and someone comes up and says "Let's set fire to that building" and you go and set fire to it, you still set fire to the building. Trying to blame someone else for your criminal behavior does not work as a defense.
It would be good for a "gait analysis expert" to perform an analysis of Trump's unique gait. He drags his right leg and I suspect he is wearing a brace for dropfoot on it (I wore one myself following a motorcycle wreck in college and recognize some signs).
