Why should the Democrats rescue MAGA Mike?

It was gone in 2016, but no one wanted to talk about Bruno. TBH, they still don't.

the rule of law. Which trump does not like but knows that the wealthy benefit from, If you have the money the rule of law can be enforced without money you cannot enforcing the rule of law allows polluters to polute, and buy political power. they face fines that are miniscule to the amount of money they are making.

the liberal international order, Which makes it harder to enforce enviornmental stadards globally as this intiferes in the procution of profits. and the future of American democracy Which really is not democratic as you can bribe people to get what you want but only if you have the money to bribe people, You have the freedom to speak but you do not have freedom from the consequences of that speech

Am I better off than four years ago with the economy? This question has been posed to many people and the results are…my personal finances are better than four years ago BUT I don’t feel good about the economy. 🤔 I believe that the malaise from the pandemic still lingers within each person and as the divisive rhetoric and culture wars have heated up, everyone just wishes that life could go back to normal (wishful thinking). Well, normal doesn’t exist anymore. And so, frustration, chaos, upheaval, and more lives on BUT the spending is up to make us feel happier. And the USA is not a happy country according to the latest poll! But we’ll keep trying.

Moreno seems to be in the same vein as the useful idiot! Unfortunately, that is probably working for him in Ohio.

Lately I have really been thinking about what comes after Trump. On one hand most cult of personality regimes don't outlive the personality. On the other hand i can now draw a straight line from 2010 until today. It's been 14 years of escalation culminating in today.

Will JD Vance and his ilk keep this incoherent ideological mush as an animating political force? Or is it not possible without Trump?

There's no actual policy just a vibe. If the worst happens and we survive bruised but whole what happens in 2028?

I moved south because I hate the cold and Im way too old to learn to say "aboot" so Canada isn't an option.

If Bill Krystol and his com padres think that the Republican party is finally whacked because possibly 80 - 90 percent of party voters chose MAGA candidates, whereas maybe two months ago the party of Lincoln was salvagably because only 65 - 70 percent were crazy, which gives a chance for that 30 percent then to regain sanity in the ranks.

The core of the GOP has been eviscerated some time ago, and holding onto that worn out badge will do nothing but provide fond memories.

While in Canada over a year ago, most all the dozens of Canucks with whom I spoke berated Americans, particularly those loudly outspoken like Bill Maher who was/is outraged whenever anyone, especially outside USA claims that America is a racist country.

Maher takes view that all or most all Americans, at least maybe 85 percent must be certifiably racist before the country can be so charged.

This distorted logic for republican party MAGA absorbsion or USA being totally racist requires an absolutism that is not rational or able to be defended if the severe negativity in either scenario continue to grow and fester.

Extreme measurable reduction by credible technical data is the only way to be positive and more optimistic.

It’s time to start calling the Trumpians “RINO’s” the Republican Party of Reagan is completely gone and the Trumpers who call themselves Republican share none of its values. Stop giving it respectability by calling it Republican

Wow...that's a very good point. The MAGAs do have it backwards...they are the RINOs.

I am still grieving the loss of my political party. I’m never going back. I’m ready to join others in starting a new Conservative Party that will meet the demands of this moment in history. It won’t help us in 2024, but maybe we can change 2028.

I am sincerely sorry for the loss. I am a "progressive", yet I also want to live in a society with a healthy "conservative" party. We need all* voices to make America work.

*yes I do mean this to include MAGA voices. I don't want to silence them, though I do wish they would silence themselves or is it listen to themselves ;-).

Have you seen the legislation that our formerly normal Republican governor of Indiana has signed into law? Are we doomed? I want to weep and then organize a resistance movement.

Nelson Pelz - yet another wealthy sellout to Trump and his MAGA acolytes. Pelz claimed after the Jan 6th storming of Congress that he would no longer support Trump. He claims also to be a “centrist”. And then here we are, he throws in his support for Trump claiming that Biden, who is his age, is too old. Never mind the issue of trying to steal an election, never mind voting for someone who is as far right as one can imagine, who promises retribution, a bloodbath and wants to get rid of all that is still decent in this country. What rubbish! Pelz joins the rest of his wealthy compatriots like Musk, Jamie Dimon and numerous others are thinking as always with their bulging wallets. All they want are lower taxes and deregulation so they can make ever more giant heaps of money. And what is it they want to do with all that money? Support their cronies and duplicitous, crooked, heartless political friends like Trump.

Another super rich scumbag, funny how extreme wealth and lack of integrity tend to go together.

Am I better off than I was four years ago? Actually, yes, as I am retired and my 401K contributions are now booming as investments. I've been keeping my withdrawals fairly steady, so my day to day budget is slightly tighter. But more is still available if I need it.

But the big thing about four years ago--my big worry was whether the drug companies would keep producing the insulin I need. Every time I took a shot, I thought--will I be able to get more? Thank god it didn't come to that. But now not only do I get insulin regularly--I get it much cheaper.

So yeah, less existential stress AND a slight improvement in budget to offset inflation.
