Virginia Foxx needs to go. Seriously. Go.

It is completely unethical for her to sit on committees that oversee businesses that contribute to her affluence...and if you have 15K to dump into stocks, that denotes a certain degree of affluence.

I will be curious to hear your take tomorrow after the speech and analysis.

In America we have the “freedom” to be racist, to bring military weapons into schools, to spread disease, to ban history books, and to not pay our bills. The governor of the failed state of Arkansas told me that.

Without those freedoms America will be destroyed.

Per your point, Joe, there is the obvious:

"Surprise, surprise, surprise!"

The quote was from a TV program of the 1960s called Gomer Pyle, USMC.

The main character, Gomer, a genuinely naive fellow, used the term when confronted with the reality of being in the service.

Thank you Joe. Not on Twitter, so will look forward to your wrap up

on Thursday. I will be watching

tonight, but not Sanders.

I was surprised that McCarthy didn’t appoint Santos to the Ethics committee. It would have been appropriate for the current standards of the R party. I am not surprised that nothing will come of the investigation.

We can hope the SEC and Brazil have other plans for Mr. Devolder

Santos.

Cindy's avatar

Oh , yes! We can always hope.

Thanks so much, Joe, for you work in general and, specifically, for mentioning here your upcoming Twitter feed. Definitely looking forward to that!

I really love this newsletter. All the Capitol Hill stuff I need to know in a very readable style. Thank you so much!

Count my wife and me as members of the "I'll be otherwise occupied brigade." Not that I have no truck with Joe Biden, quite the opposite, in fact. And I do, in fact, have no truck with pathological liar Sara Huckster Slanders. That woman lies as facilely and as eagerly as does a certain former occupant of the White House. Soul mates, if ever there was such a pair.

Great as always. Appreciate the stock picks 🤣

Since I’m not on Twitter, I wish there was another way to read your real-time comments, Joe, because quiet media written commentary is the only way I can tolerate the SOTU. I can’t bear witnessing the adversarial, hostile environment that has developed and showcased during the event. I think I peaked when Joe Wilson yelled “You lie!” during an Obama SOTU. I feel such revulsion and despair. It’s harmful to my soul, but I do need to know the reality of what’s going on, so I appreciate all you journalists who are willing to carry that burden.

There will be some important points in the speech and responses, which I will tie in to the topics for Thursday's newsletter.

Thanks! I look forward to that. The delay won’t bother me at all! It will give me time to calm down . . .

No media row for the Bulwark? Good to see that it is either stringently transparent or financially able to get the credentials.

I think at one time the Ethics Committee did actually some heft behind it. They certainly can't go after lies. There would be no politicians left.

Have fun at the SOTU address. I'm not on Twitter, so maybe a wrap up would be in order.
