I don't know how you stay as sane and down-to-earth as you appear to be when you spend your time reporting on these folks. I thank you for your service, Mr. Sommer, as I couldn't bear to do it myself.

Only at The Bulwark, folks, where it really is "only the best people"!

I give you Will Sommer, going to all the places, so we don't have to 🙏

But seriously, to my supposedly moderate "Independents" & "OG-GOP", WTF are you doing anywhere near this party????

I’m reminded of Amanda Marcotte’s line about cryptocurrency being LuLaRoe for men (basically a pyramid scheme that preys upon the insecurities of people of a certain background). I think that she was spot on. At least in the case of LuLaRoe the purchaser got clothes out of the scam. Cryptocurrency is about as legitimate as Monopoly money.

The two best parts in learning about $JPROOF: a) I’d never heard of it and b) cryptocurrency makes less sense than ever. Grateful for it all.

Why are we subjected to kooks? It feels like we’ve been teleported to the Dark Ages. And it doesn’t end.

Wow! A cryptocurrency failed after its creator made money off of it? I am shocked! Do people really still invest their money in currency that is backed by nothing?

Thanks for reporting on this. I hate antisemites and crypto scams as much as you do, but please check your math:

"Gage had seen the $6,000 he initially invested in the coin jump to $30,000, then slide to a still-handsome $15,000. He freaked out at the news that someone was pillaging the coin. He sold it, losing $9,000 in the process."

How did Gage "lose" 9K if he only invested 6K? Do you mean he "lost" 9K from the mirage "valuation" of 15K? But 15-9=6, so that means he broke even. No loss. What am I missing?

This is discussed in comments before, apparently he threw more money in after the initial investment.

When multiple people point out the same problem with the post, that tells me there are issues with the reporting.

What can you possibly say about this other than it would make a sitcom that no one could possibly believe?

Re: "As a millennial who wasn’t around for the bicentennial..."

I was around for it. I was just a little kid, but I remember it as being really cool. I still remember the coverage of events in Boston Harbor with all the tall ships and USS Constitution underway with boats all around.
