Tim Miller joins MSNBC’s The Beat With Ari Melber and The 11th Hour to take on JD Vance’s defense of Trump’s unpopular economic bill and its hidden healthcare cuts, the stagnant Trump economy, Republican redistricting power grabs, and MAGA's authoritarian theater on the National Mall.
Somehow we need to make it clear to the Medicaid recipients that the changes won't be real until AFTER the 2027 fiscal year. They need to know that is happening before they go to the polls in 2026. That need won't expire in 2027.
Somebody should come up with a cute, fuzzy animal mascot-type character called "Fascist Ferret" or something to walk around the Mall in DC for photo opportunities.
Governor Brian Kemp did damage earlier to the healthcare system in GA by leaving $Bs on table not accepting Medicaid expansion. Many rural hospitals have already closed. Trump's Big Ugly Bill will cause additional damage
LOL, but maybe Snoop is the grass king now? I read that Willie has sworn off smoking and is sticking to edibles to preserve his singing voice. But I really came here to say that I'm hoping to see creative people coming up with clever "fascist camp" memes. What can I say, Gavin's got me riding high on the mockery, no THC needed!
I'm also seeing loads of complaining on social media from midwestern states about their electric/gas bills almost doubling this summer. It has been very warm there; so, they have been cranking their air conditioning. Not sure where I heard it but Canada supplies much of the electricity for midwestern states - wondering if this has to do with tariffs?
Effing unbelievable. Spending so much on wrapped vehicles for ice!?! What happened to the idea of DOGE? EVERYTHING about this administration is just BS. Luckily for me I don't watch news bc if I kept seeing S Miller spewing his garbage I'd end up trashing the TV.
totally off topic, but on a video some days ago Tim was wearing a light checked shirt and requested feedback on it. It was AWFUL, don't wear it again or give it to Andrew (it will suit his coloring). Even the blue checked button down shirt is barely ok. Stick to darker colors with your skin tone. Tee shirts and non-traditional button downs work; the others don't.
Okay, I'm done. It's Friday night here in Ireland and I did want to give feedback on the Terrible, Horrible, No-Good, Very Bad Shirt.
My son is a ER pulmonologist who travels to rural hospitals... When they close, rural folks are going to be in crisis without being able to have him for his 2 weeks at a time saving lives
my senses tell me the economy is soft and softening. my eyes tell me the stock market is disconnected from reality. a rate cut will not offset tariffs and i think people are at a all time debt high and have mostly unwound their post-covid catch up spending. likewise the big lump of boomers retired and they've spent their money on 2nd or 3rd fantasy vacay housing, new cars, boats, campers, cruises and travel ... and may be ready to take a breather. if you add it up -- to me that spells recession. lucky for us trump is a expert in all things biz and economy.
As a boomer who retired comfortably tho with no vacay housing et al I can assuredly state I’m taking a breather. I am not buying anything but necessities and saving every penny I can. Medicare also isn’t free, I have basic it’s nearly $200 a month, doesn’t cover prescriptions, optometry services and I still have to pay $100 per visit to my doctor…the COLA this year on social security was I think $60 a month …so
It's in vogue to boomer bash but I meant it purely as an observation of pent up spending unwinding. And the two big ones to me r post COVID n retirement of our largest population group.

You know why JD rolled this out in GA? GA didn’t do the Medicaid expansion, so has the least to lose. The homeless folks he claimed needed mental healthcare or addiction care? They can only receive the most basic treatment on an emergency basis here in GA— like a 3 day hold if they might harm themselves. Never mentioned who pays for that.
That he did NOT go to the CDC to reassure the employees who had 500 rounds shot at their windows two weeks ago that the Admin is taking it seriously… speaks volumes.
He also must not have Googled “Georgia Economy” while he sat in ATL traffic, or he’d have known that the Green Energy subsidies he ensured were cut in the BBB have been creating the largest manufacturing job growth in GA with EV battery factories and solar factories.
About the economy: I know the bulwark has discussed the tariffs quite a bit (rightfully so!) but has there been any discussion on the AI bubble on the verge of collapse? Investment in AI has been propping up the economy and MIT recently did a study on the lack of economic value generated by AI. Ever since the tech circles have been shaky on AI’s future. I am not an economist but that sounds like a double whammy. Combined with no relief for rising healthcare, food, and housing costs, are we in for a recession worse than 2008?
The sad thing is they have some good people, Nicole, Jacob, Ari, Ali, Stephanie..I could go on, but you wouldn’t know if from the short 3 minute segments interrupted by ads..I stopped watching all cable news years ago

The "Bribe Billionaires Bill" was only actually supported and wanted by one person, and became law because ~260 people in Congress are afraid of him.

I would love this 10x if the app would let me! I have high hopes for the Kryptonite power of mockery.

Once again Trump is lying. Willie Nelson is the leading authority on grass, not Trump!

Now is the time to strike at a stagnant economy and take it down. Consumer strike + Workers strike.

Yes! We need to start the consumer strike, by cutting or eliminating discretionary spending.
I’ll add, in response to the “boomer” complaints; now is not the time for generational back biting. We need to stay unified.
ANd, some of the boomers notwithstanding a "good" portfolio are not going to like to see their Medicare cost go up, their parts D, etc., go up...

I thought it was MS NOW.
Not until the spinoff is complete, but dear god, that name is terrible.
Tim, you're double dipping!
I'm glad you share these here because I am no fan of MSNBC.
The sad thing is they have some good people, Nicole, Jacob, Ari, Ali, Stephanie..I could go on, but you wouldn’t know if from the short 3 minute segments interrupted by ads..I stopped watching all cable news years ago
Yeah. I never liked MSNBC.
Me either but people need $$
