Why aren’t the Dems putting pressure on Republican Senators to support healthcare AND end the shutdown?.

All it takes are 13 Republicans to vote with the Democrats and the shutdown would be over. Sixty votes ends the filibuster and puts the pressure on the House where we only need a few Republicans, like the ones who want to save their seats. It will force Trump to play defense where his TACO behavior shines.

The Dems have an opportunity to show some creativity, to go on offense rather than being forced into playing defense.

Start asking publicly for 13. Call Republicans who don't join as being in favor of health care costs rising, of having military families go without pay, of stopping SNAP benefits.

Mark Kelly was on ABC’s This Week today. He had the perfect opportunity to publicly invite 13 Republican Senators to join them to protect health care prices and reopen the government.

He failed to do it.

"Our dear MAGA nativist could, I suppose, turn his back on the national pastime, and spend his evenings contemplating the greatness of the president"

I worked with a woman who said she and her husband didn't watch The Bulls basketball games because too dark, ie too many black players. What a couple of morons.

So no baseball or basketball so just football.

I won’t call it “insane” to hope that Republicans will “also protest against the president overriding their constitutional authority and treating the U.S. armed forces as private mercenaries?” But I will call it naive. They acted to protect parochial and small time interests in the beef and Ingrassia cases. They haven’t shown the slightest willingness to stand up to Trump’s systemic abuses of power, like ignoring Congress’s constitutional budgeting power, or his corruption or any other act and pattern of lawlessness.

So did Project 2025ers have a yard sale for the contents of the East Wing or a Silent Auction? Are they still taking bids?

The biggest laugh line in the column is the one quoting Trump saying he loves this country. That is a huge joke.

The House has meet for 17 days in the last 100 days. Quite the profile in courage.

BTW, Sarah, for the psyche of the Nation, the People's House MUST be destroyed, preferably on live TV. And it should begin on January 22, 2029! Yeah, it doesn't solve all the other things destroyed by Trump that will need fixed when he's gone. But there is nothing visual in the legislation necessary to accomplish it. The people need a big, visual destruction of something Trump created in spite of the people. It should be televised. And the best in the Nation in historical preservation and renovation should gather to put the Whites House back as the PEOPLE'S House!

Once a big fan of baseball, I have fallen away from changes taken, and not taken that have spoiled the game for fans of smaller markets (Pirates, for me). Giving pitchers a break by not making them bat hurt in a number of ways. Pitchers never facing pitchers seems to give them freedom to throw at batters without having to face pitches themselves. And there's no need for game management. Pull a pitcher on a whim, without having to consider things like batting order. Sorry, it's not baseball anymore.

Time to show some backbone?????

The Congressional Republicans would have to remember where they put their backbones, and hope the attic door isn't locked.

Why does Obamacare need further hundreds of billions of dollars in order to re-open the government? I thought it was the Affordable Care Act.

Thank you, Mr. Egger. Whether maga caucus spines can be resurrected, remains to be seen. Keeping the Treasury flowing allows djt to steal the $230,000,000 at his discretion. I do have major problems with anonymous donations to preferred government departments. This administration is a reality t.v. show in an insane asylum propped up by spineless amorality thst is a total disgrace.

"But [a MAGA nativist] can’t root for a team with Japanese stars who barely speak English."

Shohei Ohtani is no mere "star." He's unequivocally the greatest of all time--Babe Ruth would look like a minor leaguer by comparison today. No white man or native-born American comes close. That fact must really get MAGA's GOAT.

Edit: Woah! 11-4 Jays at the top of the 8th! I guess Trump got them fired up!

Watch a lot of football, and when there's none on TV, find a new Nazi chat group.
