Great clip with Wes Moore, both of you. Jon, I'm really enjoying the pragmatic tone of "How to Fix It" and would encourage other Bulwarkians to check it out - it can be so hopeful and encouraging even as we learn more about the issue.

I also really liked hearing from someone (Gov. Moore) here who's not a bomb-thrower and wants to work with nuance and detail, but still has to find a way to advocate for his people under Trump.. That's much more my speed, personally, and I'm glad to see examples of what that looks like that still add up to strong opposition.

Every time a commentator mentions the substantial decline in crime in the cities the president is targeting the sentence should be closed with "from its peak in the final year of the Trump's first administration."

Mulching is for the parks department, not the National Guard. This is ridiculous and outrageously expensive.

I am excited for the full interview. I don't know how much control you guys have over the release time of the episodes, but I'd like to put in a request for them to come out earlier on Sunday mornings. I am an early riser and if they came out a few hours earlier I'd be able to listen more regularly. And Sunday's don't have as much competition for new episodes elsewhere on my listens. I know it's not likely a large market of people that up early Sundays but I know I'd certainly appreciate an earlier release time if possible. THANK YOU FOR YOUR ATTENTION TO THIS MATTER!!

Sam and John, Thanks for putting a spotlight on Gov.Wes Moore. Wes has a quality that Donald Trump doesn't even know exists, discipline. Wes is just one of thousands of individuals in this country, who are strong, intelligent and decent that could be in the oval office. Unfortunately, too many Americans chose a weak, utterly stupid and morally depraved individual instead. Wes is right, Trump is playing games because he's self-centered and unserious. He's inflicting real pain on Amercan citizens. Look, if Trump and Republicans were really serious about reducing crime, they would have taken the 150 billion dollars they're handing to ICE and instead appropriated it to the states for trained, professional policing. Trump and the Republicans have never been problem solvers but they excell at creating them.

Children and the Shooter

Every person alive has a truth and every one of us has a right to our truths. How we act on them is what matters. If you wish to criticize me for mine, no foul. If you take it beyond words, you have entered a whole different universe.

Actions, we must be more than careful.

Last year guns killed people all over the world. In Japan it was 10 people, in Great Britain 50, in Switzerland 47, in Canada 611, in Sweden 41, in the U.S. it was 38,658.

This violent disparity is possible by the kind of war weapons most efficient at ending human life, yes, BUT does not such disparity in ending human life speak to some deeper problem, some wound riding carefree in the bowels of our great nation?

Is there something unnatural going on? When is it reasonable to look through and beyond the symptoms of a behavior and ask what is really at cause? Dare we ask, is there a belief system that presents itself as of ultimate good, yet inspires the kind of behavior that can in a warped mind pull a trigger?

Make no mistake, guns are an extension of the human mind, yes, but an extension that believes something. Is it the something that we should be paying attention to?

Each of us needs to feel that we are remarkable at something. Is not a human mind that feels unfulfilled in normal human interactions, a breeding place for alternative forms of fulfillment-behavior?

What did that person with a finger on the trigger believe?

Guns don’t kill anyone. People do. In all the countries mentioned which country has the highest density of fundamentalist religious believers? What kind of belief could cause such extreme behavior? Are we looking at the wrong symptoms?

Triggers don’t pull themselves.

Petty and partisan is pretty weak cheese when used to describe a lying filthy degenerate child molester, rapist and traitor. But yes, petty and partisan as well.

Newsom knows how to play offense, and not backing down. trump takes advantage of the weal and feeble dems. Wes Moore is sharp and impressive, but he loses when trump is on offense. If you back down from trump, you will eventually lose.

Which of course was 20 years ago (when America was great?) but I guess when you're up against a guy who routinely opines about Hannibal Lecter and some deceased golfer who apparently was sufficiently well endowed to merit campaign rally discussion, time is a flat circle.

There is a bit of a buzz in blue states about "Soft Succession" The blue governors are meeting and creating ways to protect the states from federal over reach. I am interested hearing more about this. What does that mean? What is possible for blue states to do to protect us?

How hard hitting, how cutting! Mango Maniac as petty and partisan? Who’d have thought 🤔? I continue to be extraordinarily amazed, disappointed and disgusted in how outmatched and unwilling the Dems are to meet the threat. F’ing 10 years and they still haven’t figured out how to fight and defeat this dumpster fire of dog shit! Trump doesn’t give two shits about what ANYone is doing, or the progress they may be making on crime in their state or city! Please tell me he knows that none of this is about crime! This is THEIR plan, remember 2025. They know the Pavlovian buttons that they push to get ‘Mericans to chase the laser dot: “Illegals”, inner-city crime, the Woke mob, and the millions of dogs and cats - and geese - being roasted on the barbecue pit!

Sam, if this is just a different style, it most certainly won’t be work. It’s been tried way too many times before…
