The Trump voters in this and other stories are not so different from more famous Trumpists who've become his victims. Somehow they always manage to convince themselves that they'll be the exception to how he treats people. New examples keep getting added to the list, and still they believe.
The chaotic clown car reality of Trump 2. becomes more apparent each day. The majority of Americans depend on the courts and Congress to save our tradition of democracy from this delusional, cognitive declining individual.
You would expect the world’s greatest deal maker to have a handle on simple math.
In order to deport all 14 million illegal immigrants, ICE would have to identify, arrest, conduct hearings, and fly 10,000 people per day, 7 days a week for four years (1,460 days). That would require 45 max 737s (without an empty seats) deportation flights per day.
at his "address to Congress" Trump said we didn't need Immigration Reform Legislation like the Democrats said, we just needed a "President"....presumably one who is ruthless and strong who can use fear to stem the flows across the southern border. Well he's wrong isn't he. It's much more complex than that. There is another side to the coin. Our freedoms are being abused, our economy will suffer from lack of workers and prices will rise in a slower growing economy. With robust immigration our population will grow and have a younger profile. Without robust immigration our population and economy will stagnate and then rapidly decline.
1) It never ceases to amaze me how many people say that they thought that Trump was only going to try to deport illegal aliens with criminal records. That was never going to satisfy the bloodlust of the Trumplicants. And how did they think that was going to work? Did they think that ICE was just going to hang around police stations and jails and grab people there? That wouldn’t get him nearly enough bodies. Deporting all illegal aliens is just about all Trump talked about during the campaign (that and how Biden “ruined” the great Trump economy).
I don’t know that anyone thought that they would be literally grabbing people off the streets. But no one should be surprised that it was going to be more than just criminal illegal aliens. And no one should be surprised that the wrong people are sometimes being arrested. You can’t do this so fast and with such big numbers without making lots of mistakes.
2) I didn’t really KNOW this until reading this article, but I figured all along that Trump had given ICE quotas. And that’s why they’re grabbing everyone they can get their hands on. They know if they grab the wrong person, they won’t get into trouble. But they will if they miss their quota. They’re just responding to the incentives.
There have been a few cases where ICE has arrested American citizens. As more and more of these cases get reported, with any luck, agent orange's ratings will go further into the toilet.
As for the excuse that he can't give everyone a hearing, maybe he should be hiring judges instead of firing them.
There is a Bulwark tip line somewhere, but I can't find it. I know this is the wrong spot, and I will keep looking. However--
There is a Venezuelan man named Beker Renfigo that was arrested in Whitefish, Montana, by what was a combination of the Whitefish PD, Customs and Border Patrol, and ICE from a routine traffic stop, and he is possibly now be in Washington State. He has protected status under the CHNV humanitarian parole program.
I'm glad that these Trump voters are finally repenting their bad choice, but they were warned again and again, including by the man himself. The one thing that Trump has generally been honest about is whose lives he'd destroy if given the chance, and how.
Now that they've wised up, I hope that they'll make amends by joining the fight to take away first his power, then his office, and finally his freedom, once and for all.
I really feel like sending people to El Salvador was Trump’s biggest mistake. People loved him sending agents to the border, but discovering that people were sent to this concentration camp without any hearing and no limit on their detention was too much. I’m glad to see Americans waking up to the viciousness and cruelty of this administration.
Trump is bleating that we can’t possibly give “a trial” to everyone he wants to deport. Stephen Miller also says that. But a hearing in front of an immigration judge is not a “trial” as commonly understood. The misrepresentation of court orders is deliberate, and it is part of a pattern and practice of bad faith by the administration.
Like a car dealer from the ‘60s, Trump believes that “Volume is Our Secret”. He believes that in terms of the number of people he can harm and his decibels in boasting about it.
JD Vance also says stuff like the backlog of cases is so great that it would take many many years to work through it if we had to give hearing to all of them, so doing that “isn’t practical”. What they all neglect to say is that the bipartisan Lankford Act would have provided the funds and the process to hire and staff 100 to 200 more immigration judges and courts to help speed processing those backlogged cases (combined with, I think, hiring more border patrol officers and building more detention centers…inside the US). That bill was tanked by Trump threatening the GOP members of Congress to not vote for it.
At the time, everyone thought Trump opposed passage of the Lankford Act because he wanted to do it, if he got elected, so he could take credit for it. Now it appears what he really wanted was NOT to increase the number of immigration judges, courts, border patrol officers and detention centers so that he and his administration could use the backlog as an excuse to deport people to El Salvador without any kind of hearing at all. I’m sure this plan could be found expressly spelled out somewhere in the bowels of the 900 pages of Project 2025 if anyone took the time to dig around in that sewer. Reducing the NIH grant “indirect costs” to 15% is spelled out in the P2025 chapter on the Dept of Education. So that shouldn’t have surprised anyone, and I guess this shouldn’t have been a surprise either.
Where may we access the video of the Hispanic men cited above?
Thank you again for continuing to highlight this ongoing travesty!

What happened to defamation? It would seem that Fox,
Vance and all the others who say that Garcia is a convicted gang member should be liable for lawsuits.
"That was some weird shit"..George W Bush on Trump's first Inaugural Speech in 2017

Maybe he’s not that great a deal maker?
The Time Magazine transcript of the 100-days interview is bizarre. The questioner conducting this interview did a great job.
I wonder, will any of his base see it? Probably not.

I'd say better late than never, but electing Trump made everything late.
i will never not be frustrated by Trump voters who are shocked! that he is doing exactly what he said he would do. Out loud. For months.
A few comments...

He has not had access to an attorney. https://www.thehandbasket.co/p/ice-whitefish-montana-beker-rengifo
Thank you! There is at least 1 news outlet reporting on it now, too.

It kills me that having to give each individual a hearing is too hard, but shipping them to a foreign prison is perfectly fine. 😡
