Carolina is a true hero. Hearing about the resistance in Minneapolis gives me hope that WE the people will prevail while our institutions completely FAIL us. Thank you for your excellent reporting Adrian, as always!
I am so sorry that I’ve lived long enough to see hatred metastasize in the country of my birth. The despair I feel is so overwhelming that I often feel a sense of paralysis - you have given me something to do, no matter how small. And doing it helps me feel a little less powerless and a little more human. For this I thank you, Adrian. On a personal note; I live in AZ, where ICE and Border Control are always somewhere nearby. I have always had the mundane thought about how all these people that voted for this fascist regime are going to get their trees and shrubs trimmed when they have scared away the only people there are that are willing to hustle & sweat to make their yards look nice, especially as summer (Six months per yearn minimum!) approaches. I have a young man, US Born but ‘looks like a target’ who comes by once a month to take care of yard work, etc. He was here yesterday. He told me he had (HAD!) four crews of four men that were averaging 60 hours a week. When he came by yesterday he had his little brother and one other man. Everyone else is gone; captured, deported or escaped to Mexico. He says he’s just trying to pay the bills and keep his parents fed and safe. It is so damn upsetting. It’s so depressing. It’s so vile. I cannot believe it’s happening here in, ‘the land of the free’….
It's one thing to hear that it was getting significantly colder in Minnesota (the 3rd week of January will do that) but the "coda" at the end was something of another order altogether.
Of course, it's not the first time in the last couple of weeks are they getting tripped up by the proliferation of modern technology, in this case doorbell cameras.
But the problem is they couldn't care less, while the rest of us are stuck working from a place where shame matters.
As a Minnesotan here in the Twin Cities area, thank you for coming Adrian. I am daily (If not hourly) experiencing feelings of rage, sadness, anger, and frustration all at once, but then I see the stories of people like Carolina and it gives me the strength to do the one small thing every day.
Thank you for your reporting. Friendly amendment, because Lake Street is long - "A week later, ICE descended upon Lake Street, a predominantly Latino business corridor." I'd say predominantly immigrant business corridor.
Excellent, excellent piece. Thank you from one Minnesotan.
I am glad you did this report. It was good insight.
Thank you for highlighting just one of many orgs trying to help people. I wish them well and safety too.

This is such important reporting. Thank you.
Great reporting. I just made a donation to COPAL.
“Passion needs balance.” Such wise words.
Just donated to the Immigrant Defense Network. Thank you for all you do and please continue to share great organizations that we can contribute to.
Thank you for this report. I will keep Ortiz and her father especially in my prayers.
Thanks for your excellent reporting! Hopefully hearts will be softened if we can imagine how we would feel in their situation.
Maryland stands with Minnesota.
Thank you for this very needed reporting.
