Trump has mobilized what some call the George Wallace faction in American politics. It used to be Democrats, now it's Republicans. That faction has existed since colonial days (see "Illiberal America: A History" by historian Steven Hahn). Every time it rose up, it was defeated. What's different now is it NEVER controlled one of the two parties.
It will pass ONLY if Trump loses. If he wins, it's a break in our history.
