Each of the proposed Biden talking points for the debate is sound. However, I would like to see him emphasize one other important aspect: leadership. It matters, especially when one looks beyond the borders of this nation and sees that the world is watching.

Right now we have a steady hand on the wheel. We have someone who practices statesmanship. We have someone who will negotiate. We have someone who is respected by his peers elsewhere in government -- in non-dictatorial nations -- to operate in good faith. And we have someone with ample experience in the political arena to know how to handle adversity and navigate the choppy waters of opposition in a mature, responsible manner.
There will be policy differences. There will be times that we disagree on procedures and outcomes. But that has been our nature since 1776, and we've found a way to deal with that when we are willing to come together to engage in shared solutions to common problems. Which candidate is best equipped to be that guiding presence at a time when it is most needed in a chaotic, troubled world? Easy call. Ask out loud: who wants to go back to the daily chaos and stressful angst that was DJT 2017-2021, being the world's clown show on the evening news elsewhere when he opens his mouth and prompting fear rather than trust and reassurance when he practices his deliberately divisive ways? Again, easy call.
Just say it out loud and let rational, reasonable, responsible people still on the fence make that choice for themselves. I trust them to do the right thing if they are willing to look beyond the circus and trust the process.
I think Biden will work in leadership when he talks about NATO and Putin. I also look for Biden to work in word felon somewhere. And maybe even joke about sharks and electricity. (that would be a hoot!)
👍🏻👏👏👏 Well put as usual. The need for simplicity calls for him to use clear, straightforward words. Straight talk to get the message across. Show Leadership here and abroad. Ex. Appalachia had no internet. America connects on the net. We built internet where it was needed.
I think you're right in assuming that in the nation on the whole saner heads will prevail and Trump and MAGA will be rejected; Joe will win the popular vote. Whether there are enough of those saner heads in the swing states to make the difference I have my doubts, because the evidence says that for too many people residing there the lunatics are off the grass, out of the hall, and in their heads (homage to Pink Floyd). We had better hope Joe wins, otherwise liberals will find themselves in the same spot as did the French aristocrats, waiting anxiously as the newly empowered unwashed masses came for their heads.
It's not just that they are lunatics or stupid. Rupert Murdoch has systematically turned nearly half our country into fascist leaning automatons. The kind that can spend the day shoving adults and children into concentration camps and then go home to dinner and Fox News. He even bought a US citizenship so he could build his own TV network. This is 24/7 propaganda. Funny, entertaining and dangerous propaganda dished our by beautiful actors and actresses. And damn if he didn't succeed. It had to be the US because it is the most powerful country.

Everything you say is true, but unfortunately, this election is being manipulated by propaganda from nefarious media entities, who have no regard for the truth, or have even an inkling of integrity.
When we live in a country where 54% of the population reads at a 6th grade level or lower, and we’re ranked 125 out of 195 nations in literacy, perhaps we have bigger issues than this election.
Although, truth will suffer greatly, due to our overall ignorance as a population. Otherwise, this election shouldn’t even be close…:)
You make good points, and I agree with you. But at the end of the day there is what we can control and what we cannot control. We need to do our due diligence in telling people what they need to know rather than simply what they want to hear, and not worry about offending DJT, Fox, the GOP, and other bad actors who will try to manipulate and massage the truth no matter what is said and done. When in doubt, do what is right and fight what is wrong. The more we deviate from that simple, straightforward approach, the more we weaken the power of our own message and invite still more manipulation and ignorance.
Agreed, but our main issue is messaging. We need a Frank Lutz type person who knows how to simplify a message, to counter all the propaganda and noise by the right, and their media ecosystem.
Trump is great at deflection and projection. This is why Biden is a terrible candidate. He’s not quick witted. If the best and brightest always wins, we would never had had Reagan or W Bush.
That said, we’re all hoping Biden doesn’t put his foot in his mouth, or hoping Trump goes off the deep-end during the debate. Not exactly the best strategy when your competition is a flame-throwing ignoramus. We needed someone who could punch back.
That said, I still hopeful Biden can pull out a win. My biggest fear is Netanyahu and Israel. Michigan, PA, and Minnesota are must wins with large Palestinian and Muslim communities. And Netanyahu speaking before Congress, is a nightmare in the making for Biden.

Is James Carville available for temporary employment? He has shown himself to have a good instinct for that.
