GOTV (get out the vote) is the purpose, but our lists often include Independents or voters about which the campaign has no data. There are also families that have both Dem and Republican voters, so you do run into Republicans occasionally.

Many times Republican voters don't want to talk to Dem canvassers, but I talked with a woman the other day who was convinced that Trump supported education, which would be beneficial for her grandchildren. When I mentioned that he was threatening to eliminate the Department of Education she countered that he simply meant to change it and after all he had not eliminated it in his last term. She was very unhappy with the public schools in her upscale neighborhood and her kids and grandkids went to private schools. Wish I had asked more questions about that--people move to that neighborhood so their kids can go to those schools. I talked with another voter that day who had done that.

She was also convinced that the economy would crash under a Dem administration because they will take money away from people like her and give it to the undeserving. Maintained Trump "promotes the middle class." Then of course Kamala was for open borders and had let criminals who were illegal immigrants go free.

C,G, thank you very much for the detailed information. It is clear that not all those who think OCF is the best thing since sliced bread are low-income hilly-billies as some think. The fact that he did not do X the first time around, we know, is absolutely no indicator he won't the second time, but, as with any cult, if you want to belileve, nothing will convince you (especially after eight-ten years of drinking the kool-aid) that you are, and have been, wrong.
