Boycotts aren't for other people, they are for you. They are so you can go to sleep at night knowing your spending is aligned with your values. The people asking what good it will do are missing the point. Can you look at yourself in the mirror knowing where your money goes? That's the point.

I didn't buy anything on "Black" Friday or "Cyber" Monday but of course I got emails about how AI shopping increased by 800%! Then I realized that there was 0 AI shopping last year so the 800% increase could be only 800 people for all I know. Math, how we manipulate you into propaganda.

Thank you for a very enlightening article. Yep, we can protest with the withdrawal of our dollars as well as our voices. For most of us, boycotting some companies will hurt more than others, and some will be easier than others. Personally, boycotting WF and Home Depot will hurt bigly, but is doable. As someone with employment ties to AT&T I will certainly do what I can, especially with my voice with hope that other people can really help to make it hurt.

In some areas/states, boycotts and protests have been occurring since June!

I loved the story about Home Depot and the customers buying ice picks. What a great way to protest. Wish there were more creative ways to do.

We haven’t purchased anything from Amazon or Whole Foods in six months, a major pattern shift on our part. I like Home Depot and leave a lot of money there, I recently made a major purchase my last for the foreseeable future. I have alternatives from local hardware stores which nearly always offer products for the same price, to local lumberyards, to other big boxes like Menards and Lowe’s .

What matters with this administration is voting with your pocketbook- hopefully this is the beginning.

We needed some home improvement items this weekend. We shopped at our local Ace Hardware instead of going to Home Depot. Our voices are heard through how we spend our dollars. Thanks for this article!! Love The Bulwark!

I am boycotting Home Depot and Amazon. Have also pulled the plug on Paramount+ and Hulu/Disney/ABC. I do not shop at Target, and have stopped shopping at Publix since they adopted an open carry policy. I don't have much power, but I can choose where my dollars go.

Home Depot's irresponsible conduct as a corporation goes back a long way for me. I remember shopping there in 2007 and not ever being able to get capable assistance in the store. I learned shortly after that, they had given a $210 million golden parachute to an incompetent CEO they had let go. Undoubtedly the easy path for them, just like supporting Trump and his idiocies!

Yah, Democrats aren’t completely clean either, that’s why the Democratic Party is struggling. Voters are looking for better and that doesn’t necessarily mean an automatic vote for the other party.

If you do not like what they are selling, quit buying it. Follow the money and cut it off at the source - us. Peasant revolt, anyone?

As consumers, we must continue boycotting and push companies to stop funding any GOP campaigns. When/If leadership changes in Congress, clever leaders must find a way to get rid of Citizens United. If that doesn't happen, then every donation must be transparent.

Great info. I think it would be pretty easy to replicate the ICE scraper event around the country all at the same time! Who wouldn't go buy a $.17 ice scraper and then return it, wearing an anti Home Depot placard?

Odd- should Home Depot employ massive private security to engage in combat with CBP?

It is an odd situation, but it's even odder that Home Depot is the only company in that situation.

What a creative protest with the ice scrapers! Proper, old-fashioned civil disobedience. Well done them, and all who’ll follow in their footsteps!
