I'm curious about the comment about being kept out of the crime scene, is that counter-factual to the press conference where it might have been the police chief who said it wasn't safe to enter the scene?
I could be wrong, I was so shocked during the initial press coverage that I might be misremembering??
Tim, Governor, we are hearing that ICE and CBP are changing tactics trying to blend in with civilians, infiltrate groups helping their neighbors and d trying to bait people. What are you hearing?
S Miller/Trump/Bondi/Noem don't care about immigration or deporting "illegals", and any enforcement that happens is a coincidence. If they did, they'd be in TX and FL, where there are exponentially more undocumented people. But they're red states, so 🙅♀️
If there was any doubt this had nothing to do with immigration and everything to do with authoritarian subjugation, it was removed with Bondi's letter.
Looking at the locations of ice today they are all over our small suburb today. Back at the high school they went to on Friday when there was no school. And close to my son’s high school. Several 4 car groups taking someone into custody. They also left yet another car empty on a busy county road, again in our suburb. Just another day in the Twin Cities. I am glad that Gov Walz can just speak his mind now since he is not running. This was the Gov Walz from every day during Covid.
Where is Alex's phone video? It will be heartbreaking to see but necessary for the world to witness. Moral injury is what is happening in MN. And in many cities across the US. Stephen Miller will find a malevolent work around that will be less overt. He and his cadre of sick MF's will continue to brutalize immigrants, children and citizens. It will be on all of us to keep on top of this. Tim Miller has been fabulous on this topic. And Gov Walz has the moral clarity to keep pushing for justice. Thank you for this interview!!
In addition to the moral injury Gov Walz mentioned, I would like to add that a covenant has been broken. The Bill of Rights, a sacred agreement between We The People and our government, has been systematically and willfully broken in the Twin Cities by ICE/CPB in January 2026 (and other places and times during the second Trump Administration, as well).
Not a lawyer, but by my reckoning:
1st Amendment: Killing of Alex Pretti, Rene Good, harassment of protesters and unlawful harassment of those speaking out publicly against DHS.
2nd Amendment - Alex Pretti was lawfully carrying a firearm that remained in lawful concealed carry until he was pulled to his knees, disarmed, AND THEN shot by anonymous masked CPB officials. DHS officials such as Greg Bovino then explicitly said that Pretti was shot in part due to the unused gun he was carrying.
4th Amendment - DHS has given itself the authority to enter homes and seize people without specific warrants signed by a judge. Also, by their own admission they operate on the (lower) Reasonable Suspicion standard rather than Probable Cause as specifically mandated in the 4th Amendment.
5th Amendment - DHS is detaining people and depriving them of their Liberty and destroying citizen’s Property (car windows, doors to homes, jackets during detainment) without due process.
10th Amendment - DHS employees have blocked Minnesota State authorities from conducting an independent investigation into if said employees have violated state law. Again, in my lay-person view this appears to violate the sovereignty of the State of Minnesota as enshrined in the 10th Amendment.
Again, very much not a lawyer but I think we can agree that these are grave violations of one of our most sacred civic agreements. Not in an abstract way but in a tangible, all-too-real way that leaves brusies, broken glass, and tombstones. These are the most serious violations of our civic religion and such serious violations demand a serious response to remedy them, including legal accountability for those who have willfully violated the highest law of the land.
Edit: Removed a reference to the sixth amendment right to be informed of the specific charges against you, as this only applies during a criminal trial. I think detention without cause or explanation is still a due process violation though.
Everything is heartbreaking these days. Including the fact that we were so close to having this man as our VP. What a different country and WORLD we’d be living in today… so sad 😢
Thank you for having him on Tim. He reminds me that there are still good leaders in this country.
This describes a man in ICE custody who was brought to a Minnesota ER with a litany of skill fractures and head bleeds. ICE reportedly said "he got his shit rocked" when asked how the injuries were sustained.
This is an extraordinary thing to happen in an American hospital.

The instant Pretti's gun left its holster* the chain of evidence was compromised.
*And that's assuming that part of their narrative is true.

I see what you did, there...

God bless you Gov. Walz! You continue to be a beacon of light in trying times and you show the world what Minnesota is really about.
With love and deepest gratitude.

Excellent interview Tim! Authentic, real and I am so grateful for the work of The Bulwark. I know Governor Walz would have been a stand out VP—

Vance is a pathological liar. Thank you, Governor Walz.
Thank you Gov Walz for your resolve - Justice for Good and Pretti - there must be accountability for these atrocities.
