Point taken regarding fines, but I think the important thing is to force the issue. If they're going to ignore the courts and actually violate the law they need to do it sooner rather than later so that everyone is on the same page in their understanding, including SCOTUS.

Re detaining the lawyers, I believe court bailiffs- not federal marshals- can enforce contempt rulings and penalties and at least some federal courts have places to detain violators until fines are paid or they cooperate, so you're not reliant on DOJ for enforcement. It focuses the mind and the optics are not good for the government. Of course Trump can pardon the lawyers, but that too is instructive for the public in terms of what we all face if this continues.
