In all these discussions concerning “Epstein” why is there no outrage expressed that justice has not been served for the victims. Young girls. Lots of young girls. How many perpetrators are out there walking free? THAT is the reason this issue should not be allowed to fade. Maybe Trump is implicated. Maybe not. But there are others that are guilty of rape. Of children. And they need to be brought to justice. Period.

Love you guys.

It feels quite naive at this point to assume, as Trump’s base and likely some Democrats do, that there is any remaining Epstein file content of any consequence to Trump and Republicans, that has not already been shredded, or more likely incinerated.

Trump is not above destroying official documentary evidence, as long as he can get away with it. And so far, he’s gotten away with everything in his life and undeserved Presidencies. And his corrupt cronies like Bondi and Kash Patel and Bove will happily follow his “will no one rid me of these meddlesome files!” Indirect directive. And his henchmen will justify this illegal action with the usual “we have to do this, or the Marxists [who don’t exist] will destroy the country." And the unholy reign of Mad Kind Donald continues.

Apparently this isn't the case on all screens, but on many there are three dots to the far right of your name. If you click on them, there will be a drop-down menu that has an "edit" option; it allows you to change something you've already posted. I've had to take advantage of it multiple times!

Unfortunately, while the 3 buttons are there, it does not include an edit ability for my comments, although works for my restacks. Might be available via my laptop. But not on any of our phones or tablets. But many thanks for reaching out, I appreciate it.

That's so weird, but others have said the same thing. Edit is the first option on my laptop. I wonder if TB folks realize this? Or maybe it's not something they have any control over; it may be a Substack bug.

Chuck Schumer was my senator for my entire adult life until 3 years ago. He is in office for one reason only: He never faced a serious, well funded challenger. When politicians feel safe, they cease to work for us. Every town hall I sat in on with him was the same: New Yorkers pleading with him to act and show a sense of urgency, and exasperated and angry responses when he inevitably dismissed their concerns. He will play the usual political games, but he won’t color outside the lines.

So my advice to everyone is to please stop pinning your hopes on this man and thinking THIS time will be different! It won’t be. It never was, and never will be. And until he is gone and new leaders are able to seize independent control of the party, we can expect the same weakness and lack of character from them as I’ve come to expect from him.

More pod appearances from Joe P., please. Great Jon, Joe. Love your hill insights even though they are pretty depressing.

We keep hearing about what people are saying in private and what they then actually do when their words or actions are made in public. What a travesty of honesty and truth.

When negotiating a budget deal, could Democrats insist on a non-severability clause? In other types of laws, they insert such a clause, which says that a court cannot invalidate one part of a law without scuttling the whole thing. Could they put such a clause in a budget bill to prevent selective ex-post recissions?

Bill & Joe, Excellent show. Great behind the scenes look at what goes on in both houses of Congress. Joe, I would love some reporter to tell Trump he didn't have the cash to be invited to the island. They'd have to come up with a new phrase for"went viral". In these scandalous times, I wonder, how prestigious is it to be a Senator? You represent an entire state and all you do is whatever some convicted, criminally moronic, social deviate tells you to do. It's more than embarrassing, it's pathetic. They move Maxwell to club med and not one Republican Senator says boo..Maybe their all on Epstein's list. Democrats should shut this government down. Who's gonna know the difference? Looks pretty dysfunctional now anyway. Joe, keep up your excellent reporting and get some rest before September.

Re Trump's capacity 'to stay on message', he's finally caught between the immovable object of his need to cover his ass on Epstein and the irresistible force of his compulsion to BS and get the last word.

Finally, his need to lie and his need for self-preservation are in conflict, and admitting the truth would seem to have way too high a cost. Gotta suspect there's some point in Melania's prenup for which Trump PUBLICLY admitting infidelity would have a multiplier on her share of his $$$ should their marriage come to a sad dissolution. That, or some persons on the Epstein list have serious dirt WITH PHYSICAL EVIDENCE on Trump with which they could bargain with prosecutors.

For Trump, the worst downside to stonewalling is having to abide by the Constitution and leave office on 20 Jan 2029.

BEST LINE-- "Never plan a vacation to a national park at the end of September, because that's when government funding runs out and it might be closed when you get there."

(1) The refusal to tax the millionaires and billionaires has made this budget deficit the Republicans' mess. Many at the top in income-and-wealth say they can afford it; please tax them. (The top's first tax cuts date back to 1982. It's now 2025. A tax holiday for the very top that's lasted FORTY YEARS? How much has 40 yrs of that added to the deficit?)

(2) Tell THE REPUBS to fix their mess with taxation of the top. If they don't/won't, then "Please Dems & Independents, you do NOT need to play nice with such Repubs".

Dems do not have be "the responsible ones" each year.

(Family groups for Alcoh. Anonymous will tell you this: Asking "the responsible ones" to make excuses? to figure cover-up stories for those on a binge? It's unhealthy, so DON"T DO IT.)
