I hadn’t fully grasped how inarticulate DeSantis is until I got to read a direct quote. Christ on a cracker.

His whiny little voice grates on me just as much as the former guy.

I am wondering if he is trying to sound realllly emotional and downplaying his Ivy League education. Tryin' to sound jest like regular folks.

Believe it or not, the typical Ivy Leaguer is not a stand in for Noel Coward or William F. Buckley, Jr. The DeSantis we see is the real DeSantis, doubtless going all the way back to high school.

Also, don't forget that Trump himself graduated from an Ivy League college which this year admitted only 4% of its applicants. 🙄

GW admitted and graduated from Yale... with his C average. Clearly... it is all about the social elitism, not the intelligence.

Well, his dad went there and was a great student and a war hero, so Dubya could have talked to himself and he’d have had an in.

Well, yeah. Jared Kushner’s dad had to give the school a building to get him in.

I got into an ivy league college with no donations from my parents. No family member ever went there.

That makes you a notable exception. I think Harvard’s at 60% legacy now.

It was easier to get in decades ago.

They also probably liked that I went to a high school viewed as mediocre.

Jared devalued my diploma.

Nothing regular about that guy. Dictatorial, authoritarian propensities and no personality other than nasty besides.

That is what scares me about more traditional Republicans who never liked Trump. So many of them love DeSantis. No hesitation.

I think he was also trying to imply that North Korea taking part in the WHO reflected poorly on NK's judgement, which, wow.

Dang, I missed that! You're exactly right. I suspect that he does not actually believe this (though who can tell anymore, really). But that he does believe it's his best way to get him the ignorant, antiglobalist, antivaxx and pro-fascist vote.

He's gotten more articulate because he's trying to be Trump-like. A small but amazing act of cynicism.

I hear his voice in my head when I read quotes of his... Before I ever heard him speak, I imagined a deeper voice with some variation of a southern drawl. I was way off!
