I've been watching David Jolly on TV discussion panels for quite some time. He's consistently impressed me as thoughtful, politically astute, and just a decent guy. I think the amount of rot and backwards thinking coming out of Florida may finally be enough to tilt the field his way, when David declares he's going for the governorship. And I think he's right to feel that his kind of victory in red, red Florida might be a signal win. Signaling permission to other states and cities maybe it's time to see beyond MAGA, MAGA, MAGA. Maybe there' something better out there.

Loved this. Like a lot of other MSNBC watchers, I've seen quite a bit of David Jolly over the past few years. I've always been impressed by two things, one, his sheer presence, which is imbued with intelligence, something you might call balance or reason, and two his gravitas, which might be another way of saying the same thing. We Democrats need more candidates for office like him, and I'm saying this from the lefty side of the party. Thanks for the deeper dive, which has pretty much convinced me that my more or less intuitive impression of him is correct.

I'm a long time fan, too. And how great would it be for him to be Ron's infinitely more worthy and decent successor in Florida? How wonderful wouldn't that be? David's political evolution has been impressive and credible. I'm too old to move anywhere, but he'd get my vote if I were in the Sunshine state.
