I find it interesting that anybody thinks Rich Lowery has anything worth listening to since this comment about Sarah Palin back in 2008.

"I'm sure I'm not the only male in America who, when Palin dropped her first wink, sat up a little straighter on the couch and said, "Hey, I think she just winked at me." And her smile. By the end, when she clearly knew she was doing well, it was so sparkling it was almost mesmerizing. It sent little starbursts through the screen and ricocheting around the living rooms of America. This is a quality that can't be learned; it's either something you have or you don't, and man, she's got it."

Seriously people, stop asking Rich Lowery anything unless you first ask him about this ridiculous statement.

On occasion, a sense of being heavy laden (in the words of the hymn writer) overtakes me about this whole Trump business. Indeed, warding off this feeling is probably what keeps those of us who gather here at The Bulwark coming back to engage in some mutual encouragement. If you are anything like me, you need a boost from time-to-time to fire up the indignation, and to remind us what a colossal attack on what we most value we are facing.

Such a boost arrived for me last night when I saw an interview with the director of a new Frontline documentary. (Democracy on Trial, airs tonight) The director previewed some great Jan6 footage of the crowd in the "rally space" and the much larger crowd outside the magnetometers, along with photos of Trump backstage taking in the images from camera feeds of what was happening. This is when the full import of Cassidy Hutchinson's testimony came flooding into my thick head. "Take the fucking mags away." "They're not here to hurt me." "They can march to the Capitol after this is over." And these images underscore the profundity of the observation that Republican electeds are afraid of their voters.

So, all of you here, please continue in all you do. Collateral to your efforts, you give a big boost to my spiritual health.
