From what I have seen and heard of the interview, it was fine...I guess. It does make me wonder a little bit about the debate prep going forward. Two items came to my mind for Harris. First, on the fracking "flip flop". Her response with being the deciding vote in the Senate as VP for the extension of leases was lame. A better answer might have been, "Well Dana, I am glad you brought that up. After working on legislation for combating Climate Change, I have seen first hand how effective targeted policies can be to level the playing field for renewable energy. The jobs created in those fields has been very robust. In the future, fracking will no longer be necessary, but for now, we need to keep a constant supply of fossil fuels. So, what I will pursue is, ensuring that fracking operations are as environmentally safe as humanly possible and work with both the EPA and industry to detect the many, dangerous. Methane leaks from both fracking and existing pipelines. As you know, Methane, though shorter lived in our atmosphere, is far more heat trapping than CO2.". This is a debate answer. Second, on inflation. Not sure the Price Gouging thing is a winner. A better answer might have included...." This is why my Administration will focus on those things that are driving higher prices. For example the recent merger between Kroger and Albertsons, which we are currently fighting against, would consolidate two of the largest grocery store chains in the US. Less competition leads to higher prices overall. What we need to do is pass legislation that helps small farmers get their products to consumers directly. Especially in the inner cities, where as you know, food deserts exist. My administration is going to actively seek ways to solve real issues here at home. We will work closely with small business, local communities, the FDA, and congress, to pass legislation that is smart. That solves more than one issue. Governor Walz has had great success getting these kinds of ideas passed, and I will be counting on him to spearhead these efforts. We are about working For the People, not big business." Again, a Debate response.
