I am a disabled combat veteran and former registered Republican. I remember Trump’s comments about McCain like it was yesterday. I thought that would be the end of him. I couldn’t believe the rationalization going on among some of my social media friends - the same ones complaining they would go to prison if they had an unsecured private server at their home. I then of course remember Trump’s disparaging comments against Gold Star families. It never penetrated or bothered my fellow vet Trump supporters. Then as president, I remember Trumps comments to John Kelly about Nazi officers following orders, and how he skipped visiting WW2 graves because of his hair. Then I remember how he pardoned a convicted lieutenant of murder, and blocked the promotion of LTC Alexander Vindman.

There is no excuse, and so many of these “veterans” supporting Trump have lost their honor. I have immeasurable disgust for Trump and his veteran sycophants. I’ve stopped waiting for their honor to return. The entire thing is bewildering to me.
