They probably don't think about it. Anymore, fairly intelligent people don't realize that pricing is based on costs. And the US economy is not a planned economy. It is a free market economy so the President can ask oil companies to lower gas prices, but they can and do say no. He can ask congress to lower taxes on gas, but the gas companies would not necessarily reduce the price. They would just benefit from the increased revenue. I can't think of one thing the Republican controlled government could do to lower prices. If you can, I'd like to hear it.
