Tim ribbing Sam about giving advice to Elon on the best way to bribe politicians was worth my entire year's Bulwark+ subscription.😜

I disagree that Musk can't successfully primary some incumbents on this bill. A year from now, millions of people will have lost their health insurance. Thousands will have lost their jobs. And Musk has the money to make that an issue in more than enough races to kill the Republican majority.

Theoretically he could donate $20,000,000 to challengers of every Republican incumbent. That would cost about 2% of his net worth. But more likely would be targeting the 20 House members he dislikes the most and giving their opponents $50 million each (far more than the most expensive House campaigns in 2024) for a total of $1 billion - one quarter of 1% of his net worth. It all depends on his mercurial temper and whether he's still this pissed off by the fall.

Elon is persona non-grata with everybody. He deserves every bit of disrespect from all sides that he gets. He comes in and ruins things. THAT is now his legacy.

Yes, I enjoy the two of you. Sam makes me laugh aloud when he is making his comments about the absurdity of it all and laughing at the same time.

The Bush tax cuts came in 2001 and 2003, when the 10-yr Treasury was 4%-6% and the 30-yr was over 5%. Higher than now. That too was a giveaway to the rich that did not help the economy at all.

He couldn't influence a Wisconsin Supreme Court race. Can he really use his vast wealth to buy senate or house races?

Well, that was because he involved himself directly in the campaign and it became clear to him that most people do not like him at all.

In future races, he could stay at home and just use his super-PAC to target ads against candidates.

Will it work? Maybe.

It will certainly scare plenty of Republicans incumbents who vote for this bill.

The US seems to be contently living in a soap opera that has real and lasting results and consequences - unfortunately for the rest of the world also!!!!

Wake the f*@k up America!!!!!!!

Soap opera? Yes. But "contently" is not the first adverb that comes to mind for this American. At least in my corner, it's more a combination of reality being so awful it seems literally unbelievable and a kind of deer-in-the-headlights being frozen in shock. That, and genuine fear. Not that it makes things any better of course. "Wake the f*@k up," indeed! Or perhaps more kindly: snap the f*@k out of it already.
