As a public school SLP, I worked in Head Start rooms for a few years. Yes, there are improvements that could and should be made. However, many of the kids in HS come there a year or more delayed when compared to the norms/milestones for their ages. We need a program like this, and worrying about immigration status is short-sighted and cruel. But of course, what else can you expect from this administration?

Over 90% of my students — roughly 96% of whom are either first or second generation immigrants — attended pre K because of head start. These changes would be devastating.
