So DeSantis wants to get rid of agencies of education, commerce, energy, and the IRS. He probably should talk to Rick Perry, who was amazed to discover that being Secretary of Energy wasn't all about promoting oil, gas, and coal, but also involved being the steward of a vast national security complex, including the United States’ nuclear arsenal. Perry resigned after 2 years, BTW. Overwhelmed, I'm sure. Anyway, thanks for giving me 4 more reasons to never vote for DeSantis.

I just hope that he doesn't have a Rick Perry moment during a debate where he forgets the 4th agency that he wants to eliminate (...Oops).

DeSantis just vetoed sections of the FLA budget bill that had provisions for flood mitigation in central FLA and rebates to FLA consumers for installing smart thermostats and energy saving appliances. Why you ask. Because the money was coming from the federal government and he didn't want any of those "Biden bucks". On top of that Rick Scott is telling communists and socialists to stay out of FLA. I wonder how the chamber of commerce feels about the messages being sent to possible tourists and new residents. You couldn't pay me enough money to visit let alone live in FLA. Sorry if I offended Bulwarkians who live in FLA.

I'm afraid it gets even stranger. DeSantis's veto had the follow-on effect of rendering Florida ineligible for $346 million in Federal funds to support consumers pursuing energy efficiency. Unintended consequences are one thing, but I can't believe he really understands what he is doing.

I used to be socialist, and I still lean that way. What the heck is wrong with being a socialist?

Nothing. We’ve been a social democracy since FDR. Even the military is a socialist organization. Unfortunately, the republiCons keep trying to erase the past, by moving us closer to it...:)

Florida is nothing more than a fascism playground with DeSantis as governor. Between his idiotic and destructive laws and Rick Scott's utter and total ignorance why would anyone want to go there to live or vacation unless they are a fascist, communist (non-existent) or sane person!

I haven't been to Florida since there were still four living ex-Beatles. And I haven't missed it. There are other vacation and residential options. As long as that is the case, I will not fund DeSantis' politics of petulance and destruction. I also am fine with boycotting the state's products -- again, there are alternative options elsewhere. The free market can be a wonderful thing.
