I sympathize with Lauren Boebert, imagine sitting down for a night at the theater and finding out the play is about your life. Lauren Betelgeuse anyone?

How did America get so many traitors in power. That is what they are; They care nothing about the welfare of the country and especially have no regard for truth and integrity. I is just sick what they will do if they get enough power in 2024. Putin lovers? Sad state of affairs.

I cannot share Lueders’s glee over the draconian punishment given recently to some of the people Trump called to Washington for January 6th. These were deluded people who killed no one, shot no one, committed no arson, destroyed no large amount of property, and did very little physical harm of any sort. They were guilty and deserved punishment, but it should have been condign punishment for their actual deeds, not vindictive punishment for their politics. It can be hard for people to agree with Trump’s apologists on anything, but in this case they have a point about the severity of the punishment here in contrast to the generally mild or nonexistent punishment of far more violent rioters in the George Floyd riots. Those of us who oppose Trump and support the rule of law should want the laws to be enforced fairly and consistently – even for people we don’t like. And as a practical matter, the way the January 6th cases have been handled has given Trumpists an easy chance to stir up more distrust by saying that the rioters are martyrs being punished less for their deeds than their beliefs.

I don't care that sane and truly patriotic Americans will vote the GOP out. So they should. It shouldn't even need saying.

And I don't care about trump being slung in jail for the rest of his life. Once again, it goes without saying.

What I DO care about, and will never understand, is WHY the GOP "leadership" is behaving as it does. Some of it you can legitimately ascribe to stupidity (MTG, Tuberville etc) - but the rest of them? they know what's going on - why do they support it? Have they no conscience? Have they no decency?

To be clear, Trump has requested Biden be impeached, promising to dig up dirt on Biden, which is exactly what he was first impeached for in the first place. Pure comedy.

Republicans are an embarrassment for this country. And they’re anarchists.

Charlie, you nailed it in your prediction that Trump will highlight Putin’s endorsement. He posted that today. He can’t help himself.

When the R’s impeach Biden, which they will with a simple majority—right around next October, I reckon—would it not be unconstitutional, since they bypassed the vote on the impeachment inquiry, which required the higher 2/3 threshold? Where are our Constitutional scholars?

So, was Boebert high?

How did we ever get in the position faced by NM? What do you do when police don’t obey the law? Do they go to prison? I feel very sorry for the Governor. These days you seem to be able to do anything you want with as many guns as you want, and nobody will look askance. I personally don’t understand the need for open carry legislation--it seems to me that is just a means of showing off how tough you are. And beyond a hunting rifle and a gun to protect your house, what are the other guns for? Clay pigeons? I’m sorry, I listen but fail to understand the need for personal ownership of an AK-47 style rifle or anything else that is meant to kill as many people as quickly as possible, unless you are living on a war footing. I can even understand the desire to collect a particular type of gun, but for show, not for use. Privileges like gun ownership must be weighed against harm to the community. We are told that people kill people, not guns. Well, far fewer people would die if attackers were armed only with a knife. Far fewer people would die if we limited magazine capacity.

If Kevin had even 1 ball left, he would tell the crazy caucus to stick it up their As. He could make a deal with the not-so-crazy Republicans and Democrats to keep the government open. This is the way out of this mess, but Kevin only cares about remaining the weakest speaker in history even if he tanks the economy.

What the hell? Charlie and Liz Cheney are right. The Putin endorsement “trumps” all. I could cry. I think I will cry. One major problem here is that the Republicans are willing to speak about distant possibilities as if they are current truths. The base believes what they think they hear--they do not parse their sentences for conditional verbs or or subjunctives. Democrats seem to have finer feelings that are preventing them from shouting from the rooftops that this is crap. Quiet fact-checking is not enough. I don’t want Trump forced down my throat.

By the way, I think 58 year-old McCarthy is too old to be Speaker. Or perhaps he was never old enough. I am so ashamed that the MAGA Republicans represent any of the people of our country. I may not be a cross-fit goddess like MTG, but I do know some history. The woman is simply poorly educated (grade school) and is evidently bat-shit crazy. Please excuse the expletives, I am feeling sorely tried.

Kim says he will support Russia's "fight against imperialism." Has there been a greater oxymoron in recent foreign news? Russia has been for centuries--including during the Soviet era--pretty much the ultimate imperialist, rivaled only by the British Empire which, y'know, collapsed

Are we going to see any polls asking whether Putin's endorsement is going to make voters more or less inclined to vote for trump?

Some Americans evidently think the Russian empire - and its "civilization" - grew organically out of the "Russian people," whereas the U.S. is the real imperializer because it's exporting "liberalism" --which is "ideological" and therefore artificial --all over the world. In this way of thinking, Putin's campaign of conquest isn't imperialism at all, but just an effort to protect Russia's precious civilization from the threat of liberalism and globalism.

Never mind that Kremlin mouthpieces say things like "Russia is a natural empire," and "Russia as an empire is naturally in a constant state of war," and "Russia is enlarging, like it or not," and "Russia's borders end nowhere," Some Americans hate their own country so much that they think Russia is morally superior.

The law and order party, once again.

"The report said the people removed were seen vaping and using a cell phone to record the performance, against theater rules.

"Theater staff received three different complaints about the behavior, prompting security to issue a warning to the two patrons during intermission. But five minutes into the second act, the staff received a fourth complaint, and mobilized to remove the two patrons.

"One of the ushers reported that the guests resisted leaving.

""They told me they would not leave. I told them that they need to leave the theater and if they do not, they will be trespassing. The patrons said they would not leave. I told them I would (be) going to get Denver Police. They said go get them," the usher in the report.

"According to the incident report, the pair were saying things like "Do you know who I am?," "I am on the board" and "I will be contacting the mayor."

Unfortunately, the security video of Boebert getting her skanky ass kicked out of the theater had no audio. Would have loved to hear what she and others were saying as she and her date were 86'd. Priceless.
