As a fellow Catholic school graduate, I know that you know better. I well remember those (French) nuns hammering into our heads how important it is to speak proper English (not to mention my very Republican parents!) so as not to be labeled an uneducated dunce, and I’m sure that the nuns at your local school and the Jesuits in DC taught you the same. Otherwise, you sound like a “local yocal” from East Bumfuck Arkansas (apologies to my friend Jeannie in Arkansas – who does speak proper English). You might as well use that silly drawl that JVL drags out on occasion for comic effect.
You may think this is a silly/fussy criticism, but you know better - you are well educated, prove it! What must Bobby from Chicago (Pope Leo) think about your American education? If you are not going to take the word of the nuns, the Jesuits, and a book goddess seriously, how about Emily Post? “When introducing guests the guest’s name is always mentioned first.”
