Dear Lord, if there was ever a reason to stop bullying at the Middle School level it would be that many of the bullied will grow up to be asshole leaders of the Republican/Populist/Libertarian Party. These guys (and they are mostly men) simply can't get past not being one of the "cool kids", or at least what they perceived as the cool kids.

Corporations are anything but "woke", they are driven by profits and profits alone. Their whole raison d'être is to respond to the customer's desire in order to sell more crap so they can make more profits.

It is truly disheartening to see how so many R's are just so angry that other people are able to live their lives more openly now.

I think they are made because the "wokeness" of corporations cements the obvious: that their worldview lost. In a landslide. It's over.

I remember last summer the hullaballo over the lesbian couple in the Buzz Lightyear movie. (Both conservative pearl clutching and LGTBQ victory lap celebration). My 3 year old son neither noticed nor cared. His teacher at the time was married to another women, and he thought the most notable thing about her was her nose piercing. He has neighbors who are openly a couple, and in his brain the most notable thing about them is that they have two (2! not one, 2!) cats and a nephew his age. During the movie he seemed bored whenever they were on screen, because their presence took time away from spaceships and the talking-robot-cat.

DeSantis can't do anything about the fact that my son finds lesbian couples mundane. So what can he do but try to punish gay teachers and punish Disney and I'm sure if he could find a way to do it he'd try to punish lesbians more generally (extra tax on plaid clothing and Subaru's?)

The idea that corporations would openly take political positions that are opposed by a majority of the population never made much sense.

Because they need new markets, i.e. customers, so that their profits go up and their stock prices increase and their investors make profits.

It isn't about the population, it is about the customer base. Smith & Wesson aren't concerned with the majority of the population and it is working pretty well for them, as an example.

Agree, but Carol's right. They wouldn't take political positions that are opposed by a majority of their customers.
