The TRILLION dollar Medicaid cuts set to start right after the midterm elections are a ticking time bomb set to destroy the lives of millions of Americans. Thousands of them will die because of the lack of healthcare.
The Democratic candidates need to make sure the voters know this, and they're the ones who can defuse the MAGA weapons of mass destruction.

On a fox posting about the 22.5 billion remodel of Dulles, I posted that there are no funds set aside for this, where do we get the money or do we just add to the 40 trillion deficit. A reply was we will claw back money from California to pay for this. BTW, who really thinks it will be 22.5, not maybe 50 - 70 billion when all done. Not counting the big golden statue of Trump with his arm up greeting the arriving planes.
Yea no planning, no holding the president responsible to get monies from congress. Just move on to the next golden Trojan horse. Yet I heard hegseth announce, a budget of 2 trillion on top of what is normally allocated.
Yeah our grandchildren will be responsible to dig the country out of this mess.

In the 1980s, I worked as the liquor dept. manager for a grocery store that was part of a major chain in the So Cal area when they came out with "Plain Wrap" liquor and wine. The bottles had a white label with only the words "Plain Wrap" and the product name, such as "Chablis" or "Bourbon". The store still carried all the major liquor and wine brands, but the Plain Wrap product was always on an end cap for higher visability and had to be frequently restocked.
Over 40 years later, while I do shop periodically at Costco, my main day-to-day grocery shopping is at Fred Meyer, a part of the Kroger family of stores. Many of the items I buy are private label versions of items that have a corresponding name brand product. I find the private label products to be of the same quality as the name brands, but with a lower price.
Does ANYONE still think Republicans are fiscally responsible?? I thought we figured out that fallacy way back when they had their massive media campaign for “trickle down economics”—all a scam to cover up tax cuts for the wealthiest & corporations.

I used to be a Republican, in part because Republicans could, years ago, be legitimately considered the more fiscally responsible party. That is long gone. Republicans will spend more on their favorite programs and ignore the need to raise revenues; instead they approve irresponsible tax cuts. Their spending cuts do far more harm than offer fiscal responsibility—USAID cuts, for example, directly led to loss of life, reduced U.S. global influence, and “saved” a minuscule amount of money compared to the total federal budget. But it fed their base’s irrational craving to slash foreign aid.
I'm not sure when the Republicans were actually fiscally conservative rather than having a reputation for being fiscally conservative. There was an interesting study in the Economist about 15 years ago. The study tried to assess the degree to which the party affiliation of an administration affected the growth in debt. There were two main features of the study:
- It assigned the first nine months of each administration to the previous administration, on grounds the budget was already in place at the inauguration.
- It used the change in the debt:GDP ratio to assess the change in debt, which allowed easy comparison of debt at different times.
The results were striking. Since WWII, the debt:GDP ratio grew smaller under every Democratic administration except one. In the same period, the debt:GDP ratio grew larger under every Republican administration except one. The Democratic exception was the first Obama administration. The Republican exception was the Eisenhower administration.
Republicans have been asking the children of current voters to pay for government spending for the last 67 years. As a side note, Reagan oversaw one of the largest growths in the debt:GDP ratio.

Republican politicians like to claim the title of budget cutters, but the reality has been that whatever programs they DO cut, they tend to cut taxes more, plus add new spending for their own favored programs. So the deficit grows, often more under Republican leadership than under Dems.
So now the deficit seems to be drowning us, or more so our next generations. Perhaps this is the new rewrite of Norquist’s idea: keep enlarging our deficit until it all goes ‘boom.’ Doesn’t seem very orderly or conservative in any way

Since I became a voter in 1975, Republicans have NEVER reduced the deficit. EVER. That I am aware of.
