In the US, we should remember our uniqueness in historical inclusivity. For instance, in the US, I am a German-American. In other countries, people of a “other” heritages are identified by their origins even if they are citizens of that country. eg: in Germany, a German citizen of US heritage is a Deutschamerikaner. In France, a French citizen of German heritage is called Franco-Allemand. Adjective-Noun.
I spend summers in Maine. Except for the bigger coastal towns (eg Kennebunkport), if your grandparents (at least) are not native Mainers, you are considered “from away”, and are not really accepted or let into the inner circles of small towns (which constitute most of Maine) neither socially nor in community government. Tribalism takes different forms and has different bases but seems to be part of the human condition.
I'm Native American on my father's side. As in he's Haudenosaunee off a rez in Canada. My mother is Irish and French Canadian, as in my grandmother was fresh off the Boat from County Cork to Boston at the age of 7, grandfather was son of French Canadian immigrants in Boston. I'm proud of all of my heritage. America is a melting pot. Always has been. It literally what makes us unique.
Based on their "Stock" scale - I'm Grade A-C; and, there's no way in hell I agree my opinion is the only one that matters. I'd even say - Schmidt and the idiots who buy into this bullshit would not like my opinion very much.
Just tell Suzie to suck it up....she ain't getting 50 dolls, she ain't getting 2 dolls, she ain't getting no Christmas junk, but after a time all the steel mills will open back up in Youngstown and MAGA America will live happily ever after.
Tim is correct that this is Neoconfederacy. I come from Missouri, and saw this rising over the past ten years. That is how we should refer to it. "National Conservatism" sounds like it might be something new and different, when it is the same old fascist, racist caste system that has been part of this country for its whole history. And don't think for a minute that poor whites did well out of it, either. Eric Schmitt is the logical result of the direction of the MO GOP for at least the past decade.
Because they have Indian Hindu names, logical people would think Usha's grade. But you can rest peacefully because MAGA can't understand logic. Problem solved.
I wonder where veterans from Groups D factor in. Does someone who has served their country and made sacrifices for it count as "less than" a Group A/B/C American who has never served or sacrificed?
This kind of shit highlights the point I always make about enforcing social and economic hierarchies being central to conservative politics.
It’s applying small town caste mentality nationally. In small towns there is always a distinction between the “old” families and the “new” as well as the “good” (well-off, established) and “bad” (poor, dirty) families. Once someone is labeled in a small town, it’s rare to escape that label. I’d say this is one of the reasons people are fleeing rural America by the droves. The “established” will almost always stay, or move back, because they know if they left they wouldn’t be the big fish in the pond anymore. Perceived power is everything to these people.
Half the people on the Mayflower were "strangers", not Puritans...Miles Standish was a Soldier and Armourer, the sailors, a few other critical occupations were thrown in. The Pilgrims weren't exactly crispy critter off the grid type people. They were from small cities and settled farm towns. Luckily for them an Indian named Samoset walked into town speaking English and asking if they had any beer and it all went downhill from there. There was never a "White Christian" America of so great a purity. It's a fantasy

Call it what it is: white supremacy in new clothing.
Thanks for helping to take down the the canard that identity politics is exclusively a left thing. It's about time somebody did.

I’ve heard this from my brother in Texas. The wealthy are looking at their family history and prizes the connections to early American settlers.

We already have a designated group for the Neo-Confederates - it THE RACIST 'stock'
Maybe we should try judging Americans based on how they live their lives and serve their fellow man.

Under tis system JD Vance is high ranking , as he is at pains to int out . Usha is low ranking on this scale . Whose "grade " do the kids inherit ?

I think we should relocate all of the White Nationalists to Epstein Island where they can have their own little country.
