Since Trump's first term, I can see that my public life has gotten smaller in some ways, in part because of where I live (ruby red state). If I were to speak my mind in the way I want to at times, I would lose a large part of my family and friends. I'm careful about what I say, especially to whom. However, my inner life has increased greatly because of my exploration of different opinions and my quest for accurate information. While increasingly limiting, Trump's devastating, hateful presidency has made me work much harder, which is not necessarily a bad thing. This conversation with Terry Moran was excellent, and I thank you for it.

Ooh. Grim but uplifting. As an 18-year-resident (former) of ruby red states, GIRL. I feel you. I had to quit riding my bike there because giant bro trucks tried multiple times to run me off the road, yelling about Obama because only libs ride bikes and it's okay to try to kill them on sight I guess? I stayed and fought as long as I could, then GTFO'd seven years ago and should have done it much sooner. If you ever decide to leave, the PNW is full of kind and well-intentioned people who believe in community. ;)

It helps knowing about other people's stories as well, Shana. Thank you. I've been thinking about the PNW. It's beautiful. You gave me a boost.
