It is an impossible task.

Because, in their eyes, the alternative to their preferred chisler, liar and hypocrite is a worse kind of chisler, liar and hypocrite--- a Democrat.

So in their calculation the person they support is the one who will inflict the most pain and suffering on the ones they hate worse. So morality has no relevance. Winning by any means necessary is all that counts.

Winning feels sexy and empowering. Having the will to power over those one hates feels good. To grind the face of one's enemies into the dirt is the highest expression of freedom.

That is why they will not be moved. To have a conscience is weakness. To have a fixed moral compass and definite principles is for losers because when push comes to shove the moral and principled person is the weakest link in the battlefront.

The cruelty IS the point.

That is also why they are willing to give up on democracy because democracy means HAVING to let those you hate participate as equals. A dictatorship imposed by someone they like is the most efficient way to dominate and control those they hate and fear.

I've read your reply multiple times looking for flaws. Your reply seems true but it's hard to take. These are friends and relatives of mine who in the past always seemed to have (and use) a real moral compass, who seemed to believe that morality was never irrelevant, who didn't seem to be carrying hate for Democrats and the "other" , . . . It's easy for me to point out to my MAGA friends and relatives their errors of facts or logic (false equivalence, omission of key facts, etc.) It's so difficult to dispute such raw cynicism about values, principles, democracy, institutions, the golden rule, . . .

Perhaps midterm MAGA losses will show that such hate and cynicism is a losing strategy. If MAGA wins the midterms, God help us.

The gradual loss of objective realty among my family and friends has been the greatest heartbreak of the last decade.

I am a conservative but reality, goodness, truth and beauty still must be maintained or life isn't worth living.
