Where are the cops who served in Afghanistan, Iraq, Desert Storm...? What's in their hearts and on their minds? Quietly seething, discouraged or something else? I want to know.

thanks for all... you guys are the best... question: what happened to the teased JVL, Sarah, and Sonny discussion about the movie Death of Stalin?

Still waiting for an Ashli Babbitt memorial in the Capitol itself.

Knowing this GOP it'll get there sooner than the memorial they're dragging their feet to put up. Ghouls.

Our current president is proudly and conspicuously without integrity, honor or respect, as are the sycophant enablers he has gathered around him, and the mostly unseen dark forces for whom he is a useful idiot. His return to the highest office turns everything upside down, and there is nothing sacred, honorable or genuinely heroic that he and his minions will not desecrate, if not defecate upon. Thank you for reminding us of the sacrifices of those countless Americans who held true to their oaths, paying the ultimate price. The contrast is an illuminating, heart-wrenching call to return to what is true, to what we have always held dear.

A Babbit was a terrorist and got just what she deserved-id stand her up and shoot her again. We have enough enemys in the USA and that nazi trump let them all go- cause he needs to go himself- any way you get rid of him is OK by me.

Rabbit was a terrorist. She was there to destroy our Constitution and Demoracy. Her family is suing. We ought to sue them for destroying the Capitol and killing and injuring Capitol Police. She wanted to hang Pence and Pelosi.

The honoring of Ashli Babbitt is sadly just one more part of the shit show.

And still Trump found a way to go lower.

A news story today claims the administration is reviewing the payment of compensation to the traitors who were convicted for their role in the 1/6 riot. Being tried for their crimes apparently caused unwarranted pain and suffering.

I am 80, never served in military, hated the Viet Nam war, father and uncles all served during WW II. I am profoundly moved by this piece and have forwarded it to many, including my kids.

I hope it is read, with great care, by many. Mark McKeon

I am looking forward to picking pears in my parents’ backyard. Those trees are old but miraculously, they seem to be producing some of the best looking fruit in years. The downside, I believe it’s due to the unusually hot and dry summer (or is it normal now) in the otherwise temperate PNW.

I’m noticing the warmer and dryer weather here on Vancouver Island, too. 😔

Definitely- the mid to late summer forest fire smoke has become quite terrible in our once verdant land.

It would be hard to identify things this administration has done that haven't dishonored the military.

Getting my hour back.

Trump to sign a new executive order soon to designate the chamber door Ashli Babbitt tried to breach as the "Ashli Babbitt Portal to Everlasting Freedom". Maybe flanked by portraits Beelze Donald (Beelze Bob's evil twin), with a vending machine for Ashli Babbitt merch.

Please forgive me. I'm not trying to offend. I left out the fact that the Ye ol' Rose Garden Omelette Bar has named an egg dish after her and for ever one ordered, the regime is donating five million dollars to Babbitt's family.

Football. I cling to football.

It's been baseball for me. There's still a while to enjoy it. English novels and baseball have kept me nearly sane this summer. It's hard.

I actually enjoy ballpark games, but not televised, and I’ll read anything that’s been up for a Booker prize.

What is one thing you are looking forward to/can count on this fall?

I'm leaving for England in mid-October, here my partner's daughter has lived for the past 5 years. I'll be gone for 3 weeks.

In addition to having a break from the relentless onslaught of horror here, I'm also looking forward to exploring places I've not been before. That includes doing lots and lots of walking, including along Hadrian's wall in Northumberland.

Have a great trip.
