I saw this today and I loved it. But then, I carry a flip phone.

I thought the entire cast was solid - and Sam Rockwell is outstanding.

Just saw this tonight. What a weird, wild, acid trip of a movie (complimentary).

He brought up the cost of filming in LA. I'm interested in hearing about that because what ruins a production for me, to an extent, is that the film does not look like where it's supposed to be.

For example, in Netflix's "Devil in Disguise: John Wayne Gacy", the locations that they filmed in did not look like Des Plaines or Chicago. I know, because I've lived in the area most of my life.

Then there's "The Music Man" in which you can see hills not seen around Gary Indiana.

So, why don't film makers et al bite the bullet and film the large scale scenes where the story is set? They could film the narrower scenes elsewhere, where you really can't tell that they're not wherever the story is set, such as close to a brick wall or at the curb?

This matters to me.

An English professor at the college I went to asks the students in his undergraduate seminars to put their phones in their backpacks during class. 100% of his students say they want to be on their phones less. 100%! So, there will emerge (probably begun already) ways out of phone dependence. Maybe this movie will help.

Fun interview! Thank you. The school shooting part sounds risky, but I will definitely go see this movie, and I haven't seen a movie in a theatre in years. I really liked the pitch at the end to go on opening weekend. I texted my sister, a Sam Rockwell fan, and she'll go as well. I loved the story about the inspiration for the first scene.

Who wouldn't want a laugh at A.I.'s expense? OK, maybe an investor. I have never used ChatGPT either.

What makes real better? I think Matthew answered that when he described playing board games with friends. Also, from this Boomer, there comes a time when a spiritual journey becomes important, and that is only to be done in reality, in my opinion.

Good questions, Sonny. And, you couldn't pay me to see any version of Wuthering Heights. I love the story of the Bronte sisters, but Wuthering Heights, yuck.

I have things to do and have put them off far too long today, but I will come back to read this...

Fantastic episode, and I cannot second the La Jetée recommendation enough. It is told entirely through still photos, which was a necessary innovation because after it was cast and designed, they no longer had access to film stock. So Chris Marker decided to move ahead and shoot it as planned, but with stills. It is often paired with his documentary Sans Soleil, which I also recommend.

Glad someone was able to come up with something better than Catan to reference. Gonna have to check out his gaming podcast.

I confess to having a regular seat on my couch to watch movies. In other words, it’s been awhile since I’ve gone to a movie theater. But Sonny, with this post, I feel a newfound resolve to make a change and get my backside in a seat in a theater.

“Good Luck…” sounds like a

good time and a good movie.

Thanks for the nudge!

I saw this movie at the Palm Springs film festival in January. It’s a fun movie.
