There’s a whole bunch of disputed assumptions in here. I guess if I believed them all, I would agree with you. But, as a lifelong conservative and a lawyer enamored of the rules of evidence, I can’t see how Trump didn’t absolutely deserve impeachment and removal for both the Ukrainian episode and his chilling January 2021 behavior (January 6, the Eastman memo plan, the corrupt calls to Georgia, etc.). The Founders knew that character in leadership and in most of the people was essential to the American project. Trump’s deep flaws of character and his anti-virtuous life are for me the foundational issue. He ends up doing and deciding things in alignment with his poor character. He should never have been given a leadership role in our national life, and the fact that he was says more about the civic ignorance and personal character of a large segment of our people. We’ve survived the stress test so far, not without significant damage. And the Trump redux could be our undoing. I love the United States and our founding ideals too much to let them happen without a fight.

Meanwhile more people have died of COVID in 2021 than 2020. The Afghanistan withdrawal was a complete mess that costs many lives. The southern border is a mess... it had been controlled under Trump, and now with COVID raging again under Biden we get a million more refugees bussed around the country to spread all sorts of maladies. Inflation is killing family budgets across the country. A $2.5 trillion Democrat-approved spending spree spending spree to send money to workers if only they would not work has caused hundreds of thousands of small businesses around the country to fail. Supply chains are broken. Gas and energy prices had gone through the roof. Meanwhile the Democrats keep working on canceling free speech, ignoring my body my choice forcing fake and unapproved vaccines that don't work and cause serious health problems in many... and people are losing their jobs for refusing.
