Every Sunday, at Mass, there is a confession of sin about halfway through, in which we pray for forgiveness for individual acts harmful to ourselves and/ or others. We also seek forgiveness for “evil done in our name.” And that leaves me distressed and wondering how to help stop this juggernaut. Protesting, letter writing, voting, what else??
Oh, Mona. You wrote a book about how liberals are hurting those they claim to help. You ardently supported Reagan, who started this whole deregulation, anti-government, trickle-down garbage, and now you get kudos for attacking the monster you helped create.
You're right, about it all nevertheless no one willing to actually try to end this and he will steal the next election too he isnt leaving no one willing to cross him
It’s disgusting. When will the public and Congress have had enough? Every day the corruption seems to get more blatant and nothing stops them. They ought to check the stock trades shortly before he announces that peace is near in Iran.
Where goeth shame? That’s one of the most haunting questions of our time. The Trump grift machine is reaching into the pockets of his most ardent supporters and the 78 million woefully misguided who put him in office a second time are the ones who will suffer the most. (Don’t it always seem to go, that you don’t know what you’ve got till it’s gone.).
Despite the looming consequences and obvious criminality, neither the president nor his MAGA people demur when confronted with the corruption! My take on this: We are in an age when the powerless have been handed swords to use, to rise up against a government, even a society, that would not listen to them and address their grievances. Now we see the truth in the idea that no oppressors are more cruel and corrupt than those who were oppressed. When Donald told his followers he was their retribution, what did we miss?
Power is the antidote to the national shame that MAGA insists is radical left lunacy, no matter what the rest of the world thinks. Our only hope now is for Trump to do something that will redound to him and his miserable party for a generation to come. Whatever that is, it will be horrible.
I really don’t think people have a true sense of the scale of corruption and this article doesn’t cover everything like the Qatari jet. I want to see visualizations go viral that compare the total estimated alleged corruption of each former president to Donald Trump. Seeing a histogram that shows side-by-side what 100x looks like compared to Hunter Biden (not that I believe Joe Biden did anything corrupt) I think really drills in the point.
Finally, last week in a closed door meeting, Republican senators met with the acting attorney general, Todd Blanche, to discuss the anti-weaponization fund set up by Trump as a result of the “deal” he made with IRS to drop his lawsuit. Well, from what I have read, the senators went ballistic accusing Blanche and the president of setting up nothing more than a slush fund for payments to allies who felt they were attacked unfairly including those convicted in the January 6 attack on the Capital.
Finally, even the Republicans who have been nothing more than Trump’s doormat have had enough. Why? Because the midterms are fast approaching and the GOP sees the possibility of losing the House and perhaps a couple of senate seats as well.
The USA is not ranked 64th internationally, according to the links used by Mona, it is ranked 29th, with a corruption perception index score of 64, right between the Bahamas and Brunei, and barely above Israel. Still not great either way.
What does Trump take us for? He takes us for rubes, there for the fleecing. With Congress aiding and abetting, he makes a mockery of our laws and exploits our decency.
What the Hell is a self-proclaimed BILLIONAIRE doing with piddling investments of a $1,000,000 or less? He is not a big enough thinker to be an actual billionaire. If you are a billionaire, you think in terms of billions or hundreds of millions. Or does he think that his "limits" make it less of a crime? Or is he really, really poor because his stupid golf courses suck up all his cash, and he invests what he sweeps up at the end of the week? If one is to be a really good crook because one knows this is a sure thing, be bold, not wimpy, not pathetic, and ditch the loser mentality.
Why does Trump need to sell merchandise? Gold sneakers, bibles, watches, gold phones, etc? While the dollars he makes are relatively small for a billionaire, he just signs a contract that allows the use of his name and he gets publicity. Other people do all the work - contracts, production, delivery, etc. My guess is that Trump sees it as easy profit where the money made per hour of his time is quite high.
My suggestion? Share this with any and everyone, even your MAGA friends and family. They may or may not accept it, but they won’t be able (with a straight face anyway) they had no idea how corrupt and insidious this cult is.
Especially for my friends and family who say to me "oh, they're all crooks. Remember Hunter Biden?" In this excellent article Mona gives the full scope of the corruption and puts it in perspective!!!
And to think that all this Thievery is to bolster Trump’s narrative that the 2020 election was all a fraud and that his re-election to office then was stolen. Which was a lie and the fact that he knows he’s lying is pointed out quite eloquently in the very beginning of Andrew Weissmann’s new book, Liar’s Kingdom. 😄
Will there be any recourse or punitive consequences for any of this once he leaves office? Could it ever be shown the the “settlement” with the IRS is illegal as the suit would have been dismissed?
