It also ties in to Neil deGrasse Tyson's state: "that revelation that our everyday experience is not a reliable guide to the ultimate nature of reality is a major transition in thought." Far too many people are utterly incapable of making that transition.
But it takes quite a lot of thought to understand that one's experience is not necessarily the equivalent of truth...you have to be interested in becoming wiser and so pay attention to these ideas...
