I love that Cory "Mills blamed the accusations on Democratic “lawfare.” “It’s the same thing President Trump faced, where everything was about allegation, accusation, indictment,” said Mills. “But when it came down to it, the proof just wasn’t there.” The proof wasn't there? What do you call being convicted of rape by a judge (adjudicated liable=convicted)? Being convicted of 34 felony counts of fraud?

I see a pattern here.

Will Saletan, terrific column. Knife-edged points; thank you for cataloging these many pig-moraled Trump imitators. The fact that Max Miller thinks he's being "resilient" and that "Americans like that" is particularly galling.

Trump never met a rapist or abuser of women that he didn't like. Birds of a feather...

Gee, I wonder if this flock includes notorious pedophiles.

Probably we will find out after the Epstein files are released.

In tribal societies, where the most important and paramount thing is tribal allegiance, amorality and corruption is always relative. If the person supports the tribe fervently, corruption doesnt matter, and if you dont support the tribe and aren't tribal innately, than everything you do is considered corrupt and you will prosecuted viciously.

The great accomplishment of the United States was to transcend tribalism and to convey to idea that corruption is a vice independent of belonging.

The new MAGA is in a revolt against this whole notion, they want to make the US into a tribal country, and Trump himself is inherently a tribal primitive figure, and succeeded to transform the party in his image, and therefore corruption is only a problem if Hunter Biden or Fauci and Planter is accused of it, and the whole idea of transgressions only exists to punish the enemies of the tribe, but for members of the tribe these same accusations are no problem at all.

I particularly liked your Miller quote: "I am not going anywhere." Let us hope that the 'other' meaning of that two-edged phrase turns out exactly that way.

In short, the Roy Cohn play book.

As a Foreign Service Officer who served apolitically under four presidents (and later was on the Nixon White House Enemies List) I am appalled by the ‘frat house’ mentality of Trump (‘grab ‘em by the pussy) and his sycophants. In fact, they reflect his ‘morality.’

I wonder if I am part of a small minority that is shocked and saddened by such ‘excusable’ behavior. It may seem disgusting, but acceptable, by media stars and, perhaps, billionaires. But for individuals who are elected or appointed to serve in the federal government, Congress, or the Supreme Court?

Welcome to Sodom and Ghomorra!

FWIW- Many years ago I worked for a social-services-oriented training organization. I met an SME who was/is a member of a southeastern U.S. indigenous tribe. I learned that this tribe was matrilineal and matriarchical. Most importantly, upon union a new husband joined his wife in HER family complex. Wife abuse was very rare, her brothers making sure there could never be a second occurrence. Let's give it a wider go.

If Will actually went through all the congressional and governor candidates, Will would hit the word count limit on this article and the Bulwark would raise our membership fees to fund his overtime pay.

His article couldn’t even include the porn shop pizza online black Nazi commentator Marc Robinson. Or the pedophile 10 commandments judge Roy Moore or Mark Lamb.

Thanks, Will! Excellent overview of the scoundrels in the Republican Congress, past and present.

Character? All of these idiots are characters.

For a party so obsessed with gender and chromosomes, would probably benefit the Republican congressional females in scandal to identify as male for a day or two to get the Trump blessing/pardon.

Feels like to be a woman to get Trump’s pardon you need a Kardashian on your side. As a man you just need to be a real awful criminal.

The GOP gameplan under Trump just seems to lie, cheat, steal, bully and praise Trump endlessly and count on the right-wing propaganda machine and decades of brainwashing to get voters to support them.

Is it finally starting to break down as their bad behavior becomes more shameless and undeniable. Trump will be gone in two years one way or another. Will the GOP finally get back its moral compass? I hope so,but I doubt it. Still, I do hope for some improvement at least.

Well if Miller looses, Felon Trump can’t do anything to get him his job back. He’ll have to appoint him as his next press secretary.
