I think that the question "what is Bond?" is a good one. Bond is pure propaganda. The Soviets were never a threat, they had no plan to militarily take over the world, but the paranoid West needed propaganda in their dirty little wars against those who dared stand in their way of access to markets and resources. He will still serve that purpose as the oligarchs need a bogeyman for people to rally against in the name of "freedom and liberty".
I want a complete reset for James Bond. The next Bond should be Emily Blunt, defeating evil and kicking ass while always staying cool and enjoying occasional opportunities for sophisticated adult pleasures. Our current icons of western masculinity are too pathetic. I want intelligence and competence, so we need a woman.
And no more Russian or Eastern European bad guys! They aren't scary anymore. Russia is so pathetic that it can't even defeat Ukraine. Everyone knows that the greatest danger to western civilization today is the United States. The next great bad guy should be an American billionaire tech guy in cahoots with an evil President and supported by a cabal of Evangelical preachers. Emily Blunt can handle this!
