If I remember correctly, we did have a political debate in 2020. That debate ended on November 3. Vance and Trump did not like the outcome of that debate and wanted a do-over, but only in the states that were close.

And more specifically in the states that did not go their way, not the ones that did. Whoda thunk it?

And isnтАЩt it the case that the parties already have individuals designated in advance to serve as electors in the event their candidate won their stateтАЩs popular vote? So the theory Vance is spouting is that the actual, certified election results in each state donтАЩt matter as long as the losers make enough noise to somehow intimidate politicians to ignore those results and certify the slate of electors for whoever they think тАЬshould haveтАЭ won.

Nail on the head.

And to add another obvious point to the discussion - it's not like DJT had any plans to concede if he lost the do-over.

I donтАЩt understand what Vance wanted? Truly donтАЩt understand it. Trump lost. What does an alternate slate of electors bring LEGALLY? Please explain it to me. I follow politics closely and I donтАЩt see what rights were taken from them.

Also everything I read about the Hayes Tilden election sounds fraudulent as hell. How is that the Bible to follow.

Honestly explain how they legally got screwed and what Vance wants

Vance is playing what he thinks is a clever shell game. He posits there were irregularities in the 2020 election (e.g., changes in the voting period due to Covid in PA), Therefore, it was legal to have alternate slates of electors because the popular vote in these states (which Biden won) may or may not be legitimate. Therefore Congress should have stepped in to evaluate all the state elector slates and pick the "proper" elector slates. It's all built on the assumption that Congress had the right to step in if alternate elector slates were legitimately approved by state legislators. Except Biden won the popular vote in each of these states. Etc. Etc. Etc. It's all bs.

Exactly. ItтАЩs all BS. Why didnтАЩt that p$ssy Ducktape say that

Because Ducktape thinks this was an erudite philosophical discussion between a thought leader (Ducktape) and a future leader of the post-Trump populist Republican party (Ducktape's most fervent wet dream).

The whole concept is insane. Trump lost the states and there was nothing for the body politic to discuss.

The scarier part is that there is no doubt in my mind the Republicans are already cooking up a scheme involving "alternate" elector slates approved by Republican state legislatures in various swing states. Of course this time Harris is the VP but no doubt Vance, Mike Lee and others will cook up a way around that.

So true. Why isnтАЩt Biden +10 since they are cheating and everyone knows

Because +75 million voters are ok with the cheating and anything else it takes to put the Mad Orange King back on the Iron Throne.

I don't think it is important that you understand. It isn't even important that it make sense. Truthiness. It checks the boxes for those who need them checked and provides reasonable doubt about the whole thing for those who are open to it.

But how is this legal? Trump lost those states

How is what legal? The hypothetical smoke and mirrors that Vance is pushing? Who can know if it would be legal? I mean, that would be for a court to decide, and we all know how those aren't the right place to decide anything.

And the legality would likely be decided after the fact anyway, much like it sort of is in places like Georgia, Arizona, and Michigan. The legality won't matter if the election goes to the house on a state by state voting basis.

Ugatz legal. It's what you think you can get away with if you have enough shamelessness and psychopathy. Think Ogre in Revenge of the Nerds: "Thanks wimp, get yourself one!"
