Join me this Thursday night.
Hi, it’s Amanda Carpenter 👋 (I’m up there on the right.)
Remember how intense the 2020 election cycle was—and how long and terribly it went on after election day? One of the things I remember most vividly is how thankful I was for the Bulwark community to rant, vent, and process it all together.
If I didn’t have my Bulwark friends, I would’ve been white-knuckling it through all the drama alone. Ew, I can’t even imagine that!
What Sarah, JVL, Charlie, Mona, Tim, Jim, Hannah, Ben, and the rest of the gang built is pretty great. I love writing articles for The Bulwark, as well as joining the podcasts, and bingeing on them myself.
Thursday nights are special, though. That’s when a few of us get together for the Thursday Night Bulwark livestream and actually talk face to face. As we like to say, that’s where you see us tell you what we really think, rather than just read or listen.
Want to know something, though? I like it even more when I’m not on. Because that’s when I can join the chat and see what our members think. I love popping in and saying hey. It’s one of my only chances to connect a screen name to a Twitter follower, and maybe even to a real face from an in-person Bulwark meet-up, like the one some of our members came to a few weeks ago. We all got together at a Nationals baseball game. Don’t ask me who won. I was too busy talking to my new friends.
You know as well as I do that this political cycle is rough. Keeping up with all the media can be head-spinning. But finding people who agree on the things that matter most—respect, decency, democracy—is what makes this all meaningful, worthwhile, and pretty fun, actually.
2020 was tough, but we made it.
I hope you’ll think about joining Bulwark+.
Together, we’ll get through 2021, 2022, and all that comes next.
Promise.
I’ll be on tomorrow night’s broadcast of Thursday Night Bulwark along with Tim Miller, JVL, and Ben Parker. We’ll get started at 8 p.m. EDT and plan on discussing the Arizona fraudit, the debt-ceiling calamity, and the Virginia governor’s race—among other things. The members’ live chat will be buzzing and we’ll be taking your questions in the Q&A box.
It’s easy to join us live via Zoom (or telephone) but if you’re busy you can watch the recording at your leisure. The team posts the video shortly after we wrap up and there is an audio version for members too that you can drop in your podcast app. These live over in the Thursday Night Bulwark corner of the site.
Take the next 30-days to try a Bulwark+ membership, free, and join us Thursday night.
