🕰️ To My Fellow Beloved Grandparents, the Time We Warned About Has Arrived

It has been a while since I’ve written here. My grief has kept me quiet — grief that has only deepened in recent months. Since my last post, my family has endured the loss of four precious loved ones 💔, including my father. The timing of these deaths in the summer of 2025, a message from my ancestors, is that LOVE, Compassion, Faith, and Hope are most important in this life on earth.

In times like these, the heart wants to retreat. But history calls us forward. 📜

🪶 The Elders’ Role in Times of Crisis

When nations have fallen, elders have been the steady hands ✋ guiding their people through the storm. The American Indian Nations endured devastating loss, yet elders became the backbone of survival, teaching their families how to adapt and survive.

Now, that responsibility falls to us. But our challenge is compounded — ⚡ AI technology has sped up the pace of political, economic, and cultural collapse.

🚨 What We Warned About — and What Is Happening Now

Many of us warned about Project 2025 ⚠️ and what would happen if Donald Trump returned to the White House. Those warnings are no longer predictions — they are reality:

🛑 The Trump Administration has taken control of policing in our nation’s capital and called in the National Guard.

💰 ICE funding has reached the highest level in U.S. history, making “policing” the fastest-growing job sector in America.

✂️ Every DOJ official involved in the January 6 prosecutions has been fired this week, along with the 100s of thousands of other federal workers and community programs.

📉 The Human Cost

Half of my community is now unemployed 😔. These aren’t just numbers — these are friends, neighbors, and family members who once worked in:

🏛️ Government service

❤️ Community programs

🛎️ Customer service

🚍 Transportation

🌱 New energy industries

🤖 AI and kiosks are replacing workers in rental car companies, hotels, and countless other sectors. People aren’t spending because they can’t. The fear is real:

🏠 Losing a home.

🚗 Losing a car.

🍽️ Not putting food on the table.

📦 Preparing and Planning for the Recession

As elders, we must lead our families and communities through the storm that’s already here. That means preparing now:

💵 Budget ruthlessly — cut non-essential spending and focus on securing the essentials.

🛒 Stock essentials — food staples, household basics, and necessary medications.

💳 Preserve cash — keep a small emergency fund outside risky banks or investments.

🤝 Share resources — combine household needs with family, neighbors, or community groups to reduce costs.

🛠️ Learn barter and skills — practical abilities like gardening, home repair, and basic healthcare will be more valuable than ever.

📡 Stay connected. Isolation breeds fear, and strong networks help us survive and resist together.

🚔 The Rise of the Police State

Just as in the histories of Mussolini, Hitler, and Putin, the largest growth sector in Trump’s America is his new police state department — ICE.

📖 As Timothy Snyder reminds us in On Tyranny, such forces exist to detain neighbors, friends, and community members whose opinions differ from the ruling regime, including pro-democracy voices ✊🇺🇸.

And this is funded by us — the taxpayers 💵.

🌟 Why We Must Stand Now

Truth, fairness, mutual respect, kindness, and education should be the foundation of our society 📚❤️. However, those controlling AI and media technologies are actively eroding these values. The Trump Administration’s “facts” are lies, yet fear and economic insecurity are keeping too many people silent.

Change is not coming — it is here ⚡. And it will take every one of us, especially elders and grandparents 👵👴, to steady our families, to speak truth, and to act while we still have time.

✊ Stand. Speak. Prepare. Resist.

Dems are still doing it. AIPAC needs to go!

Mamdani is the first candidate to excite people.

People are twisting themselves into a pretzel to avoid endorsing him will endorse a man that was accused of being a sexual predator, but not a man with some views that might be a little bit different than theirs

He’s talking about Virginia like she’s chattel. And his concern is that she left his employ, as a locker attendant. Not that she was in danger. Why, if he knew what Epstein was up to, didn’t he insist on getting her back? Especially if her Dad worked for Mar a Lago as well?

Because he wanted to rape her.

Apparently, from what I could find, it is legal in Florida to employ kids age 14-16 except in a handful of physically hazardous jobs with equipment, etc. It appears working in a spa, even giving massges or other one-to-one not closely supervised care to guests/clients is not illegal. That such work might be dangerous seems to have escaped the regulators' notice, alas. Not clear whether Virginia G. was 7 when she left Mar-a-Lago or when she started working there, but such young people would be sitting ducks for abuse.

Which is the whole purpose of hiring kids.

But Florida is “protecting their children” by not allowing teachers to read a book about 2 male penguins. 🙄

Tim, I'm glad somebody said it out loud. Biden was selfish and the harm outweighs all the good he accomplished.

Your points about showing up all the time is so key. I think that's one of the reasons Trump has appealed to his people - he is in constant communication - even though his communications are crazy, he's out there talking to his folks. The Dems don't have a strong leader keeping in touch on the reg that I am aware of. Love you Tim!!

IMO the growth of The Bulwark has resulted from the sense of a community united by a common mission - defeating MAGA. Tim, Sarah, JVL, and Sam Stein now seem like people I know. They react to issues in ways that I can predict, based on what I’ve seen from them in the past, but they are capable of surprising me. And they can make me laugh! The discussion between Tim and Sam Stein about Danica Patrick and the lizard people is one of the funniest things I’ve ever seen.

By the way, I really feel that David Pakman has a problem that it takes him too long to edit his streams down to youtube. He should hire someone.

I think he's ok, but his content isn't deep enough that I want to hear his thoughts on anything a day and a half or 2 days after I've heard everyone else's take, but that's how long it takes for his short bits to show up on youtube.

I can’t imagine wanting this story to go on indefinitely *and* also agreeing that this story will not end his presidency early. Maybe I just really, really want to see him removed from office and anything else is a big letdown. Watching Trump act crazy and uncomfortable in front of reporters isn’t too satisfying if we’re ultimately stuck with him. (I’m not all that interested in Maga fragmenting or whatever the consequences of that is in 2-4 years.)

I'm only in the first 1/3 but I want to say, if the working class public wants the system shaken up, the only GOOD people to do that in this country are leftists like AOC, Zohran (and though he's too old) Bernie.

And the Democratic leaders like Chuck Schumer and Hakeem Jeffries are literally MORE hostile toward the left than they are toward:

1) a Fascist occupation of the country by ICE secret police and

2) the "post Constitutional" totalitarian oppression that Russell Vought and Curtis Yarvin are openly calling for, and

3) the ethnic cleansing and genocide that Stephen Miller, Laura Loomer, Tucker Carlson, Nick Fuentes and Steve Bannon are pushing for and creating.

Even Obama conspired to make everyone drop out of the presidential race in order to sabotage Bernie Sanders.

This party WILL NOT ALLOW people to resist. They will do anything to sabotage all sincere leaders.

They're not the opposition to the Republican party, they're the people who got in position to prevent the Republican party from having an opposition.

We're doomed.

You both say that you think, whatever happens, that ‘we are stuck with Trump’. That’s equivalent to what many people said in the early days of Watergate….

I like that you are including some other podcasters and big-accounts on TikTok. I don’t follow Pakman for just stylistic reasons but he’s a reliable source and that’s most important to me. That said, there are several very popular anti-Trump, Dem leaning podcast names I hope you don’t bring on the Bulwark. They would sully the Bulwark’s reputation, IMO. They are hyperbolic and self-promoting and I don’t trust their takes. They also think that all we want to hear is bad news about Trump and good news about whomever is against Trump. They are unreliable narrators.

Every day tell another story in the words of the women survivors. Show a picture of a girl the age she was. Have a girl of that age read the story. Keep them anonymous, team up with Julie Brown. Have them behind a curtain if that’s more forceful. EVERY DAY ANOTHER STORY. They can’t slither out from that.

TIM PLEASE STOP PLAYING INTO TRUMP’s HANDS. When you make it about the cover up - rather than the crime and the story of the victims (ESPECIALLY THEIR STORIES ABOUT MAXWELL) you’re allowing it to be watered down and obfuscated to the point of boredom. LETS NOT CARE ABOUT WHAT TRUMP IS SAYING TODAY ABOUT THIS. EVERY DAY it should be the victims and their stories. EVERY DAY. The Trump stuff should be the ugly postscript. Not the other way around. Photos and voices of girls who are the ages they were, parents who discovered what their daughters went through. IF YOU DO THAT THEY CANT WIN. The victims deserve to not be re-assaulted as they’re getting re assaulted now - by having their stories USED rather than told, by having their humanity and suffering eclipsed and stolen for political gain.
