Two simultaneous truths: The Waukesha driver shouldn't have been out on bail but our cash bail system is also woefully broken. We have to find a balance between protecting the public interest while also guaranteeing people's rights to not be wrongfully or unduly held. I don't have an answer for how we do this, but it is something we collectively need to resolve

Thank you for bringing this up. So as a voter, can you (or anyone else) please provide a question that i can ask of my state and federal representative that would provide insight as to their mindset on the issue? I'm not part of the judicial system community and have had very little interaction with it, so have very little knowledge of what strings to pull. And also, anyone know where can i go to learn more? I need the knowledge to become a better-informed voter.

Yes, and not having to keep any and all accused offenders locked up until trial--at great expense--is one public interest.
