matt: you’ve obviously given this a lot of thought. i think your idea of a rotating panel of justices is an interesting one. how about this: in any case where SCOTUS intends to interpret the constitution the court must include the chief judges of each of the federal circuits and the decision must be upheld by a super majority (75%). trying to impeach justices for lying or evasive answers in confirmation hearings would be problematic.

Is it better to join the Democrats or stay within the Republican Party to demand change?

What if everyone who reads these makes a FOIA request of DOGE for everything the musk pups have collected on them?

Another opportunity is for Democrats to propose substantive legislative solutions to problems. For all the bluster, Trump has zero interest in actually fixing immigration the right way, through legislation. Democrats could pull out the immigration bill that Trump killed, add some improvements to make it more humane, while also acknowledging the reality that the electorate wants a much stricter border.

Highlight the fact that executive orders are not permanent laws and that Democrats recognize the American people want a real solution to the immigration problem. His approach is so haphazard, sloppy, and inhumane that there is room to take this issue from him.

Which goes back to Trump’s stupidity and incompetence, in that he could have gotten a bunch of Democratic votes on a pretty draconian immigration law when he first took office if he had been willing to put in the work. Instead, he has squandered all the political capital he had on the issue when he was elected.

Thank you Tom you have made a ton of great points here. And yes there should be consequences for all the actions they are taking now that are against the law. But we also have to strong and push as hard as we can to make all these things realities. Make sure everyone that votes has their vote count, oh and one biggie try to put a cap on campaign donations so no one can "bribe" any other person running for the leadership role in our USA!

I think this is all well and good, but there is a fundamental problem, and that is Democrats' 1) desire to remain "above it all" and always "do the right thing" (ex: attending Trump's inauguration) when what is required is to get downright mean and extremely tough, and 2) its inability to counteract the GOP's masterful playing of the victim when it comes to politics. Future Dems in power could respond to every one of Trump and his administrations cruelties with tit-for-tat and they would claim how badly they are victimized and use it to their advantage with voters.

I obviously don't speak for anyone else, but I am so sick and tired of playing by the rules when they will not, and all it does is cost Dems in the end. I say gloves off. Future admins need to get mean. No more tax exempt status for churches or GOP think tanks. Throw every single one of Trump's admins and family in jail for their corruption. Pressure state bars to discredit and disbar attorney and firms who capitulated. Enact LAWS that stop this stuff in the future, and enough with "investigations". Just freakin' do it. Beef up the FEC and give it the money and power to go after campaign law infractions with severe punishments (jail time for MTG for insider trading). Make it incredibly easy for companies and other institutions to go after the Federal Government for extortion.

Any future Dem president's AG needs to vow that he/she will immediately take action on prosecuting stuff. Every Dem candidate should run entirely on a campaign of accountability, because hell, the economy is already crap. I am so sick and tired of having sand kicked in our faces and we do NOTHING.

The only problem with the "A Price To Pay" theory, is that it may force those who go along with the MAGA agenda to be that much more motivated to make sure this is no regime change.

I would never advocate for anything close to physical violence, which Trump would love as an excuse to impose martial law. However, I know MAGAts respond to economic "violence" above all else. We need a national strike. Now!

I believe that one of the Dem's main problems with the electorate is the perception that we are weak and spineless. This article demonstrates how we can show we actually do have a spine and can project power without compromising our values.
