Hannah: "I award you no points, and may God have mercy on your soul."

The 1st and 3rd Indy flicks are indeed top notch. I also quite live Temple of Doom, but it is a rougher experience than the other two.

Streaming is Great for Seniors to keep up with life & culture! And it helped all of us to survive during Covid, Thetes plenty of room for Digital & Theatrical. Gives EVERYONE the power of choice, especially when both are offered!!

"Chilled monkey brains" I loved the Temple of Doom. I also liked Kingdom of the Crystal Skull. People forget these are lighter entertainments not Shoah.

Raiders is indeed a perfect movie, and my ATF. It remains perfect even despite Indy's complete inconsequentiality, as observed by Amy on Big Bang Theory:

Raiders is the GOAT. Booby-trapped Alfred Molina scared the hell out of me as a kid 😂

Off topic, I just saw Cyrano, Joe Williams' recent film version of the stage play. Freaking good; the music was a huge surprise. Two stunning songs jumped out, Roxanne's song, and the Soldiers' song before going into battle. Anyone else see this gem? Can I recommend it (Amazon Prime)?

"This is what we go to the cinema for, people!"

After thinking about why critics and movie goers have such different tastes, this comment here tells me Sonny gets it. Having watched enough critically acclaimed movies, I get the other side too.

I get Netflix’s strategy, but that being said, why only one week instead of 3? I would’ve kept it in theaters all that way until 12/16. Let people go out and see it and create buzz.

I’m sure there are some people that will sign up over Christmas to watch it, but I’m guessing that a lot of the people that will make up the Glass Onion’s millions of minutes viewed are already subscribers.

Why not get them to pay for the movie ticket (which I did) and then watch it again via their subscription (which I pay)?

Anyway, that episode on Disney Parks was fascinating. As mention in the discussion, it make it seem like the warning signs at the park might have been what doomed Chapek more than anything.

The difference between $12 and $30M is a rounding error, though.

100% and I get that being the case for them. I would just further make the case that it’s not so much about the $18 million as much as what it can get you. You could get the word of mouth buzz, a better relationship with theaters (granted, not high on the list for them), and a good relationship with creatives (much higher on the list for them)

TCinLA. I highly recommend Rogue One. I agree with you on most points especially the last 6 movies. I will disagree that I find Empire the superior of the 3 with ANH a close second. The last 3rd of RotJ redeemed that one…I still hate the Ewoks however. The prequels and sequels were just trash. ANH is still dear to me because I was 12 when I saw it originally in the theaters… what a blessing.

Once again R1 in my opinion is probably 3rd on my list of SW movies.. hopefully u give it a go. If you like it Andor is very good as well.

I am with you. I live Rogue One and we very much enjoyed Andor too.

I saw the first Star Wars movie in TV e the theater 10 times the summer it came out - I was 9 years old and I couldn’t get enough of it. I played Star Wars with my cousin in his backyard all summer.

You can't really say that none of the sequels have been but crap when you haven't even seen Last Crusade.

A New Hope was good, like you I think the rest of it was meh at best ranging to total garbage. Have not seen the last one. Probably won't.

Rogue One was decent. Found Obi-Wan kind of meh (although there are a few good scenes).

Lost Ark was good, but I also liked Last Crusade, mostly for the interaction between Ford and Connery.

The last good Star Trek movie was Wrath of Khan.. although there we a couple of scenes in the reboot that were awesome.

The best "movie" I have seen this year was God of War: Ragnarok. The character interaction and growth was amazing and it was set in an interesting and authentic feeling version of Norse mythology. A well done Coming of Age story seen from multiple perspectives.

Ragnarok is a game (Playstation).. but you can watch the cutscenes on Youtube.

I will have to check out Devotion on the basis of your recommendation.

Eh, Indy is basically built for the serial mode so I’m fine with its sequels. Held that they’re mostly good.

That is only true if you agree that Crystal Skull doesn't exist.

I am Last Crusade all the way. The Williams score is better. The interplay between Connery and Ford is fun. It even had a fun moral lesson for the hero to learn!

Of course I was once told that it was the worst edited film of all time, too. I guess it takes all kinds. :D
