MAGA is angry because they were hoping for a Pope that would look away from their un-Christ-like behavior. They are desperately seeking moral cover for their amorality. It is a religious leader's duty to speak out, whether it's America or any other country. Typical MAGA self-centeredness to think it is all about them.

I had to check on Trump's tariff rate on Vatican City. As it turns out, the Vatican is one of the handful of countries exempt from reciprocal tariffs.

Nice to know this Pope will be rooting for Jalen Brunson, Josh Hart, and Mikal Bridges, or I would assume so being a Nova Alum.

It looks like the new pope is about to turn around and accept the staff of the shepherd.

I didn’t put the popes mouth dork high. This is like one of those weird pranks Michelangelo would make. Like when he painted a bisected brain around the image of God, reaching to touch Adams finger, to imply that God was all in the imagination of man. Right there on the ceiling of the Sistine chapel.

Anyway. Now presenting Brazilian blowjob Jesus.

As long as this Pope represents an organization that still tries to erase its gruesome cover-ups and still insists on teaching that gay people are "disordered," he's still part of the syndicate. Having purged Catholicism from my system years ago, I'm baffled that people still think the Roman Catholic Church is a good organization. The willful damage to children, the centuries of violence, and the rancid dogma that it still pushes like cheap heroin on vulnerable people. Most of its leaders have shown cowardly gall in droning on about the sinfulness of homosexuality--including this new Pope in a 2012 interview in which he accused the media of being too sympathetic to the "homosexual lifestyle," which he then very mistakenly claims is anti-Gospel. There is not a single syllable of the Gospels that is anti-gay.

I give Trump 48 hours before he starts claiming it was HIS influence that caused the conclave to choose an American pope. He will find SOME way to twist it into a win for him. My guess is the Catholics saw how in need of spiritual help the United States is under Trump. They have seen the cruel, selfish, uncompassionate brute supposedly leading the free world and decided it was an emergency of the highest order. Put the new pope right in the middle of the country needing the most help! Not a bad choice. "The closer you are to danger, the farther you are from harm."

Tim, a genealogist says the pope’s mother came from the Black community of New Orleans. Her father was a Haiti native and her mother was Creole. https://www.ncronline.org/news/white-smoke-black-pope-genealogist-says-leo-xiv-has-louisiana-african-roots

JVL says he expects to have only six popes in his lifetime. I realized Leo is the eighth pope in mine, and I’m close to him in age so he may be the last in my lifetime.

And doing the six degrees of Kevin Bacon-like game, I know someone who was taking classes at Villanova when the pope was.

When Pius XII died in 1958, I was 11, so this is also Pope number 8 for me. This is the first time in my life that the pope is younger than me.

There is hope!

I am not Catholic, but boy, I’m sure leaning into the leadership of the Pope since I feel zero respect or allegiance for the US President. I was sad to see Pope Francis pass as I was really embracing his word and character. The world needed his voice and the modeling of virtues.

I’m stoked for the void that will be filled by Pope Leo XIV, both created by the death of PF and the rise of DT. He can be a man for the tired world to lean on for hope and guidance. I am open to receive the message.

I thought that as well, but then looked at the capitalization. Maybe it was written for him and he decided to give it his "special touch." But with his 5th grade vocab and sentence structure, it was at the very least drafted by someone else. Lol!
